Someone asked me today "Would Dems Accept Rove if He Offered His Services?" |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-14-08 04:52 PM by maseman
I said that KKKarl Rove makes me sick. His point was who cares if he gets people like GW elected he could get anyone elected. It makes my skin crawl to think of it.
Note: This is in no way thinking that Rove would ever work for a Dem. It was just an interesting question that was posed.

1. I agree that he wouldn't be any good to our side. |
|
He knows how to dogwhistle Republicans, which isn't something we need much of.

|
It's just shit that non-Democrats like to spread.

7. If you define victory as simply nothing more than winning more seats, you need a Rove-like guy. |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-14-08 05:02 PM by Selatius
In the game of Real Politik, power can and has trumped principle. It's why Gore and Kerry never entered the White House, and the news media let it happen because the same corporations that support Republican deregulation and consolidation also own the news outlets.
If principles are what animate you, then Rove is not to be considered a serious option at all, but if you are only concerned with winning a seat despite sacrificing all principles, then yeah, give Rove a call. In all honesty, you should probably find a Democratic advisor who is just as ruthless as Rove. Methinks he only works for the red team.

11. Paul Begala on Real Time w/Bill Maher said ... |
|
... he knows KKKarl Rove for 25 (or was it 27?) years and he knows David Axelrod. He said David Axelrod will kick KKKarl Rove's butt so we've got nothing to be afraid about.
I believe him. So far, Axelrod's been doing a tremendous job as Obama's campaign manager, don't you think?

And if you have the Mighty Wurlitzer on your side, you don't need Rove.

This is a joke, right? I don't even trust James Carville to not reveal our strategies to his wife. Why would anyone trust Rove?

20. Im pretty sure that If we offered him a better deal |
|
he would come over. Rove dosn't strike me as terribly principled. If a dem was the last person between him and life in a cell, I don't doubt for a second he would balk at offering anything he thought might keep him out.
Whether we want him? I don't. Others might. Democrats are a rather diverse group.
