Voting for Dummies
I’m voting for McCain/Palin, and here’s why:

While I appreciate that our economy is a disaster, I believe a man who is willing to admit that he doesn’t understand the economy and how it works is the best candidate to get us out of the current mess.

The truth is over-rated. I want another president who lies his ass off about everything. The fact that McCain lies about things that are easily proven false isn’t stupidity – it’s chutzpah.

There’s nothing more reassuring than the idea of a Commander-in-Chief who doesn’t know the difference between Sunni and Shi’ia, and is ready to defend the non-existent Iraqi-Pakistan border.

I firmly believe that a warmonger with a hair-trigger temper should have the last say when it comes to deploying nuclear weapons.

Electing a president who shows signs of dementia, PTSD, and perhaps the early stages of Alzheimer’s isn’t the end of the world - hey, what could possibly go wrong?

The fact that McCain wants to extend tax-cuts for the wealthy shows his confidence that once he’s at the helm, even minimum wage earners like me will someday be millionaires who will share in those tax breaks.

I am not troubled by the idea that McCain is so out-of-touch with modern technology, he doesn’t know how to use a computer. Abraham Lincoln couldn’t use a computer either, and that didn’t stop him from being a great president.

I, for one, don’t think it’s a big deal that McCain has flip-flopped on virtually every position he’s ever held, and can’t even remember what his positions are now or were then. We all forget things – and this just confirms his “human side”.

Despite the fact that he has voted with Bush 90% of the time, I am confident that once elected, the Maverick will do things completely differently than the last disastrous president.

I have infinite trust in a man who can’t remember how many houses he owns, or how he voted on various bills, or the fact that Chechoslovakia no longer exists, to have the mental wherewithal to lead a nation.

Yes, it’s true that McCain is old and may not last a full term in office – but his choice of an experienced and adept VP nominee assures me that the country will pass into more-than-capable hands.

Despite her inability to face reporters before being “prepped”, I am confident that if necessary, Sarah Palin will be ready-and-able to face the responsibilities of the presidency on a moment’s notice.

I am of the view that living in a state where you can see Russia is as much “foreign affairs” experience as anyone really needs.

There is no doubt in my mind that despite the fact that she “doesn’t know what a vice president does” and she “hasn’t really turned her mind to what’s going on in Iraq”, Palin will quickly figure these things out once on-the-job.

In a country as great as ours, I firmly endorse the idea that ignorance of the facts, deceit, lies, religious extremism, a lack of mental agility, lapses in memory, a lack of experience, and abject stupidity should not disqualify anyone from leading a nation.

John McCain was a POW; Sarah Palin was a hockey mom – duh! What more do you need?

I am a complete IDIOT – and I approve this message.

... they haven't made the connection, and run with it in ads!

"Abraham Lincoln never used a computer, and didn't know the difference between Sunni and Shi'ia, either - but he never let those facts stand in the way of a GREAT presidency!"

8. Me to. I am a compleet idiot and I'm for John Mcain for preznit.

= = = = =

This post is successful IMO because of its author generally but to offer specifics:

It inventories the disqualifying elements to McCain-Palin and uses irony and wit to expose the disqualifying elements.

The post is rich in phonetic variety. The sentences are sound and clear and potent in the service of their points. This is the sort of progressive mindset that is accomplished and potent, and the very sort that would infuriate someone like Ralph Reed.

The piece short-circuits the Republican sensibility. It cuts the phone wires and electric power from the outside of McCain's many houses and leaves the Republicans inside with no recourse. They can only leave in disgrace.

It's damned funny. No Republican is going to want to take on an inventory of their own massive failures especially when this writer has put them together so forcefully and convincingly. Nance could show this to John Danforth and he'd laugh right along with us. She could show it to John Cornyn and he'd dump his drawers.

It demands critical thinking of an electorate that too often isn't willing to offer any when making big decisions. Not least, this piece has already covered that ground and then some.

from my house and live 11 miles from a major airport. That qualifies me as a pilot and astronaut.

Yes ladies and gentlemen we are in Bizarro World.
All right I'll say it. Sarah Palin is a fucking deranged idiot, and John McCane has dementia.
No wonder they head the Republican Party.

14. "Voting for Dummies" has gotta be one of the best double-entendre subject lines
in the history of DU. The only thing I can think of that comes close to matching it was a real book title I saw in Borders once: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Near-Death Experiences.
