Seven and twenty years ago, a sleazy "B" actor brought upon this continent,
Edited on Sun Sep-14-08 09:30 PM by Jackpine Radical
in place of the old America we once knew, a new nation immersed in lies and dedicated to the proposition that people will believe anything if you tell them often and convincingly enough.

We are now engaged in a great and most uncivil war testing whether that nation, or any nation so cut loose from its moorings in reality and so adrift on a sea of lies and corruption of its own making, can long endure.

On November 4 we will meet on ten thousand battlefields to engage the morally deranged descendants of that "B" actor in a contest of life and death, not just for our nation, but for our species and for our planet.

On that day we will put to the test the ultimate question of whether idealistic dreams of justice, truth and decency can once more prevail in returning our nation once more to the universal esteem it once held as the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, or whether we will permit ourselves to sink into a pit of malignancy and ultimate destruction.

The world may little remember what each of us does to bring about a victory for light and truth on that day, but children yet unborn will know greater joy and peace in their lives, diseases will be conquered, and the thin and precious film of life that surrounds the earth will be given the chance to heal if we succeed in rising to the great challenges that now face us.

Reagan was our governor, hated him then, hated him more as president....

7. K&R for "lest we forget when the bullshit began"
And math skills!

Seriously, who can forget "a rising tide lifts all boats", the sudden rise in numbers of homeless emotionally disturbed folks, and Iran Contra.

Ollie North now has a show on Fox, but should be in Leavenworth. :puke: (excuse me)

IMO, we didn't push back hard enough during Bill's first term before the "Contract on America" republican congress.

I'm thinking we get another chance to save this country beginning in January.

:patriot:

PS, Great post, thanks for the memories, dark as they are.

8. America has been living in a political cesspool ever since.
We are tired of that stench and filth.
