1. Don't worry the Petty's are old south NASCAR. They do not represent
the mass majority of NASCAR voters anymore. yes, the majority are still Republicans, but NAScAR is much younger now and a larger percentage is turning to Dems than before. Even if it is 1 or 2 more percentage points that can be enough.

3. Schilling is a douche, he "endorsed" Bush in 2004 why the hell would anyone listen to him again?
The sad thing is that 40 yrs ago, Richard Petty and all the stock car crowd were probably voting Democratic. It's ignorance, plain and simple.

7. They are jocks.
What they think of say should not carry a great deal of weight.

6. wow.....
While I was reading this thread my local news showed video footage of this little event, and Cindy McCain looked *awful*.

She was wearing jeans and a McCain/Palin t-shirt and cap. She looks thin in a suit but in jeans she looks just like a meth addict. There's definitely an issue with anorexia with her. Seriously.

9. I am waiting for the McCain crowd to claim that.....
the LARGE crowd there for a NASCAR event was really there as an example of a "McCain supporters rally."

11. God, I hate Curt Schilling.
He totally turned me off to the Red Sox. Pre-Schilling, I was a huge Red Sox fan, but I hated him immediately as soon as he joined the team. I didn't even know his politics at first (though I wasn't at all surprised when I found out he was a Republican). I just couldn't stand how he always has to be the center of attention and how he'll kiss up to the media by criticizing his teammates. Even the '04 championship was tainted for me because of Schilling.

Oh, how I long for the pre-Schilling days of Pedro. My favorite Sox teams ever. :-(
