So Republican efforts to delay the Trooper-gate probe have been thwarted?
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

AP
Alaska lawmakers vote to subpoena Todd Palin

Snip>>>
Republican efforts to delay the probe until after the Nov. 4 election were thwarted when GOP State Sen. Charlie Huggins, who represents Palin's hometown of Wasilla, sided with Democrats. "Let's just get the facts on the table," said Huggins, who appeared in camouflage pants to vote during a break from moose hunting

1. It doesn't even sound like the Alaska GOP is TRYING to delay it, strangely enough.

2. So either they hate her, they are not worried or they have integrity?
Wonder which one it could be?

3. Correction: SOME of them aren't trying.
Some of them clearly are, but not enough of them to get the job done. So far.

4. The investigation has been bipartisan
from the beginning. The Democrats are in the minority in our legislature, so this investigation couldn't have even gotten started without the cooperation of some Republicans. Sarah herself said she welcomed the investigation -- until John McCain showed up.

6. Question...
In your opinion, is this investigation on the level or is it spearheaded by people she's ticked off during her reign as Governor? The reason I ask is, we need to know what we can reasonably expect the outcome to be.

If it was just motivated out of spite, then chances are it won't amount to much and may even ultimately help her in public perception - target of a spiteful attack because of her "commitment to reform," etc. etc. But if there's actually something there, then we should be pushing this.

On the surface, it sounds like there may be something to it, but I'd like an Alaskan take on the whole thing.

Monegan, then him getting fired, there clearly is something here. Proving it beyond a reasonable doubt won't be easy but the facts look pretty clear to me.

8. I think the investigation is on the level.
Of course, there are certainly two sides to this story -- it seems pretty clear that Wooten has issues -- but Sarah, Todd and her staff did put a lot of pressure on Monegan to fire him in the weeks leading up to Monegan's resignation. Sarah's excuse when she offered the demotion to Monegan -- that he wasn't taking the troopers in the direction that she wanted them to go -- seemed kind of lame when the Wooten matter came to light. She stresses that since Monegan was a political appointee, she oculd fire him at will, which is true, but he had been a popular cop, Anchorage chief of police and public safety commissioner, so people were pretty disturbed when he was let go.

As for "spite," Andrew Halcro, the blogger who first broke the story, is certainly no friend of Sarah Palin's, so there may be a small element of spite involved. He ran against her for governor in 2006 as an independent and has been a staunch critic ever since.

9. Ok, thanks...
Sounds pretty much in keeping with what I've read so far.
