Biden to give strong anti-McCain speech tomorrow
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/14/biden-mccain-is-dead-wrong/

As Obama has in the last few days, Biden brought up McCain’s comments at a forum on service in New York last week when the Arizona senator said in Washington it’s easy to be “divorced” from everyday challenges.

“Yo!” Biden exclaimed, “I couldn’t have put it better myself. The McCain ticket seems divorced from the economic realities facing average American families.”

Monday Biden will deliver an economic speech in Michigan that an advisor is calling the “Bush 44 speech”, looking to further tie McCain’s economic policies to President Bush’s and accuse McCain of running a “dishonorable and deceptive” campaign.

Whether this was the plan all along, or whether a mid-course adjustment, I'm happy to see him taking on the duty of a VP nominee.

1. Geek - you do realize that Biden works for Obama, right?
Biden is just doing what he's told by Obama's campaign.

That said -

Yay! It's about time!

9. Exactly.
And the thing that really sucks is how the media has been ignoring him.

So even tho he's out there and on the attack every single day, people don't realize all that he has been doing.

4. Sometimes it is all about timing.
I think the discussion is going to be a very serious one from here on out.

The republicans have nothing to say.

5. He's doing what the Obama campaign is telling him to do.
So if he's now meeting with your approval, it's because Obama's camp has decided this will now be their approach. It's up to them to determine what what they want the "duty of a VP nominee" to be.

11. Thank you. It is Obama's call.
We need to trust that they know what they are doing. They have done fine so far....I have no reason to doubt anything they do, or have done. Some on this board would only be happy if they drew blood it seems. :eyes:

8. Biden said something absolutely SHOCKING today about the McCain economic plan (see below)
Edited on Sun Sep-14-08 11:33 PM by EndElectoral
Biden said that under McCain's plan, if you make 50,000 dollars in wages, and your employer health plan amounts to a worth of 12,500 that McCain's plan wil TAX you as if you were making 62,500. Did I HEAR that right? Seems UNBELEVIABLE.

How in the world is this NOT OUT THERE in the MSM??? This is HUGE!!!!!!!! And should be in the Obama ads over and ove.r

Whew. Middle Class america wake the f' up.

12. I have been hearing that too, I am not sure if he is taxing
the benefits or the premiums on health insurance. I read he wants to tax the employer on the premiums for health care they pay and that would make a lot of employers drop their health coverage.

18. Truthout printed this..a bridge to nowhere
http://www.truthout.org/article/biden-blasts-mccain-campaign-gop-plan-tax-health-care-benefits

For example, he said, Republican presidential nominee John McCain isn't talking about his plan to tax the health-care benefits that millions of Americans get through their employer.

Biden called McCain's health-care plan, "a bridge to nowhere."

"They want to tax your health-care benefits; I am not making this up," he said

19. Joe Klein on it....
http://www.time-blog.com/swampland/2008/09/mccains_health_care_tax_increa.html

"It is amazing to me that Obama campaign has let things go this far without pointing out that McCain--who opposes the energy bill because it would increase taxes on oil companies--is actually proposing a tax increase on health care benefits for American workers. But that is precisely what the Senator from Arizona is doing. "

14. Biden has explained that several times, and I admit before I heard him
put it in a simple way that I understood, when they'd say "McCain will tax your employer's health care contributions" my eyes glazed over.

We need things stated that simply. And I agree - it's worthy of an ad devoted to it. Simple. Don't try to put too much info into it -- this is enough and very powerful.

22. The tax goes into a fund
to pay for "health care credits" that won't be enough for people who can't afford health care to get health care.

Nice "tax your health" plan, eh?

McCain's "My Friends" is Biden's "Ladies & Gentlemen."
