Does Obama see Palin as insignificant?
Obama is conspicuously silent on Sarah Palin

By Peter Nicholas, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
September 14, 2008
MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Even as he mounts unceasing attacks on his Republican rival, Barack Obama is ignoring the person on the ticket who is the center of attention: Sarah Palin.

A few syllables are all Obama expends on the Republican vice presidential nominee. He'll mention "McCain-Palin" when he's on the trail; beyond that, her name is practically taboo.

<snip>

Twice at a town hall event in Dover, N.H., on Friday, Obama fielded questions that invoked Palin. One man described her as a "feminine version of Dick Cheney and George Bush" and asked Obama why she had garnered so much attention. Obama didn't bite.

1. "insignificant"? because he targets McCain?

Your title sounds like the RW meme- the sexism meme. The article doesn't imply that Obama thinks
Palin is insignificant, you imply it.

6. Not wat was intended - trust me.
Title was meant to exude the thought that maybe we are spending way too much time on Palin. Because Obama is virtually ignoring her. That maybe he doesn't think that we need to worry if we can take down McCain, Palin is nothing but an also ran.

2. He should
It's 1992, and it's the economy, stupid. You know, that thing John McCain says he doesn't understand.

Stick with it. Ignore the girl.

3. Obama is smart and surrounded by very savvy people
They have quickly caught on to the fact that she is there to distract, that he cannot attack her without looking bad, and that he needs to maintain his focus on McCain. Good for him. Let others attack her (which they will) and let Biden pleasantly inform the American People in the debates that he's ready to take over if necessary - without looking like he's attacking her credibility either. Nope, Hands Off Palin Everyone! (I just made up a new acronym!)

4. Obama is running against John McCain...
the McCain campaign wants to diminish Obama by having him run against the vp nominee and elevate her by making her the focus of attention...she's way more appealing than McCain and if she's the focus, they have a much better shot at winning a 'change' election than if gramps is the focus...Obama should not give her any more attention than she actually warrants...

5. Nope, He Sees Her As Laughable But Knows That Would Be Rude
so he's allowing her to self-destruct instead.

8. No reason to mention her. She's a bad joke and no one
wants to hear a bad joke :-). His opponent is McCain and it's good he sticks with going after him and ignores her. Then she will keep trying to vie for his attention with no response and look like the blabbering fool that she is.

Everyone says "he should concentrate on McCain!!!" He concentrates on McCain and now people are saying "He's not paying enough attention to Palin!!!"

Geez, he's screwed both ways!
