What is Karl Rove up to???
Former Bush adviser Karl Rove said Sunday that Sen. John McCain had gone "one step too far" in some of his recent ads attacking Sen. Barack Obama.

That man never makes a move without the purpose being to help the side he is on?

He's like a chess player planning ahead on his moves. :yoiks:

1. IMO he's just trying to sound reasonable...
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 06:27 AM by CJCRANE
it was a fairly tepid attack from what I saw.

On edit: although it does show that if Karl Rove can't even defend him then McCain has stepped over the line.

2. Who cares?
Stop idolizing the guy. No, it's not just "Know your enemy" at this point. It's unhealthy obsession with a guy who isn't really that impressive. It's loser mentality. Stop it.

11. Idolizing the guy????
I don't idolize the guy! I think that word is a strong mischaracterization of what I said? I know he has had some rough spots lately. However, I wouldn't dismiss him so lightly.I assure you I don't google every hour to find snippets of what he is up to. I do, however, take notice when he does something way out of character.
You can call me a loser. I think I am prudent in watching.

4. It is their sop.

Rove of course actually said both Obama and McSame had gone too far in their attack ads. That is complete bullshit: the Obama ads have been for the most part not complete horseshit. McSame's ads have, as has been documented quite well, sunk down to outright lying and just making shit up.

But more to the point: rove is doing what they always do, bemoaning the sad state of affairs as if they had nothing to do with it while continuing to launch new barrages of bullshit.

6. Yeah, it's the usual right-wing "both sides are bad"
BS. So vote for McCain, because he was a POW.

5. I think that they have bated the Obama campaign
Trying to get them to go negative. Then they will switch to playing clean in an attempt to come out looking like the good guys they are NOT.

Just a theory, Mine!

8. Yes, Rove is obsessed about opposites
saying one thing and doing the opposite, attacking strengths and projecting their own weakness onto others, then switching round just to mix things up.

I sometimes wonder how he remembers what is left or right, black or white, up or down anymore.

9. "one step too far" from Rove just means that it's just too ridiculous
for even the dumbest people to believe. For the lies NOT to be "one step too far" would mean that they are still working.

12. McCain attacked Obama, now they want a cease fire
McCain has spent the last few months attacking Obama without Obama fighting back much.

Now the Republicans will hint that they want both sides to stop the attack ads.

That way, McCain got in all of his attacks on Obama, but Obama gets in no attacks on McCain.

Of course, even if Obama agreed to stop all negative ads (which he won't), the Republican 527s would still attack Obama and McCain would claim he couldn't stop them.

This just shows that Obama can win when he's on the offensive. Republicans are used to fighting Democrats who won't attack them. If Democrats attack Republicans first and often, they could win elections. John Kerry could have won in 2004 if he had gone after Bush twice as brutally as Bush went after him.

Stay on the offensive, Obama, the Republicans can't handle that.
