45. TPM reports it will "air on national cable and in key bettleground states."
http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/09/obama_campaign_launches_ad_hit.php

The ad will air on national cable and in key battleground states. Though the ad describes McCain's campaign -- not McCain himself -- as "dishonorable," the response, without question, will be POW POW POW.

7. Obama Needs To Stop
Obama needs to stop saying "McCain voted with Bush 90% of the time" in his ad.

It's one of those twisted statistics. I think factcheck.org (no fan of McCain, believe me) has called him on it.
Instead, Obama needs to put the actual clip of McCain bragging about it in his ad.

Far more damning to an educated voter - I assume the 90% is a massaged statistic, just like when they claim Obama is the "most liberal" Senator. But if McCain himself is embracing how much he is like Bush that says a lot.

16. On the contrary, he needs to keep pushing it!
It doesn't matter that it can be "debunked". What matters is, John McCain HIMSELF has said it!

So what if the Repigs try to call us on it? All Obama has to say is "Why, John McCain himself has said so! I took his word on it, because I can't IMAGINE he was lying!"

McCain hamstrung himself in that one.

IIRC. He's being generous by using the 90%.

If there was any wiggle room, mcPOW would have denied it. He can't so he isn't.

28. From factcheck.org: Is it true John McCain voted with George Bush 95% of the time?
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 07:48 AM by flpoljunkie
Q: Is it true John McCain voted with George Bush 95 percent of the time?
The Obama campaign keeps claiming McCain has voted with President Bush 95 percent of the time. Is this true? Is this significant?

A: Yes, it's true, according to Congressional Quarterly's assessment of McCain's voting record.
Sen. Barack Obama has attempted to use the Arizona senator's voting record against him in statements like this:

Barack Obama (June 3): It's not change when John McCain decided to stand with George Bush 95 percent of the time, as he did in the Senate last year.

The claim is true. According to Congressional Quarterly's Voting Studies, in 2007 McCain voted in line with the president's position 95 percent of the time – the highest percentage rate for McCain since Bush took office – and voted in line with his party 90 percent of the time. However, McCain's support of President Bush's position has been as low as 77 percent (in 2005), and his support for his party's position has been as low as 67 percent (2001).

63. I am wondering if all these ads that mention a lack of honor and integrity
are specifically designed this way because they know that eventually, calling out McCain on his precious fake honor and integrity claims is going to cause him to completely melt down.

Some of the biggest cheats I know personally spend most of their time harping on their "honor", their "integrity", and if they feel that people are dissing it, they blow. Big. It got to the point where I told dh that anyone who uses the word "integrity" in their advertising or mouth to me about how much they possess, will be people I won't hire for a job or socialize with, because every damned one of them in reality were as far from having real integrity as you could be.

They hide behind the word, they convince themselves by saying it enough, but they lack it. I think someone in the Obama campaign clearly understands that if they call him out enough on this integrity claim, McCain is going to take the old big giant bait and have an enormous blow-up at some point. To the brink and beyond. Kind of like Charlie Keating, of the failed S&L said in an article I recently read - that he knew he had the way to get to McCain and get what he wanted, when he called him a coward enough. McCain, according to him, eventually blew a gasket, screamed about how dare someone suggest it, and promptly trundled off to do Keating's bidding with the regulators. Just to prove he was no coward, he flat out appealed for favors for a S&L fraud.

I am hopeful; besides, it won't hurt to call McCain by his true name and nature, even if someone from his team can keep sedating him from blowing.
