Baltimore Sun Article by woman voting for McCain
I saw an article in my hometown paper yesterday by a woman -- a self-professed life long Dem. She says she was a huge Hillary supporter, but is now voting for McCain. Why? Because to her, gender trumps all. Her words. She said it is more important for America's women to have a woman VP -- even if she disagrees with her policies -- than it is to have a Dem president.

I trust this woman is an outlier, and not a representative of mainstream Dem women.

What weird logic.

1. gee, how many times have I heard a "lifelong Dem"
saying that, despite all the other things that a Dem president would be good for, one aspect of the current situation has totally won McCain over for them ...

Isn't "I'm a lifelong Democrat, but ..." the new "The check is in the mail."?

2. Imagine if she told the truth about what some people think!
"Race trumps all. It is most important for America to have a white president."

There is a more than a little of that thinking going on, unfortunately.

3. If she is a rep....
of the mainstream we are all FUCKED!

Such a narrow minded person :-( The country is close to going down the toilet and 4 more years of Bush will be the end but just as long as we go down with a female VP that is all that matters. A child who does not have health should not worry because we now have a female VP....WTF?

4. psy ops....
How is it important for America's Women to have a Woman VP if that Woman VP's policies are blantantly Anti-Woman?

sounds like Right-wing noise to me.

12. Her argument
was that it is empowering to America's girls and young women to see a woman in such a position of power. That message of "I can be anything I want" is, according to her, more transformational than the usual Dem policies that she supports.

This wasn't just a LTTE. It was an editorial from a lady who's written 20 books. I'd never heard of her though.

Seems to come down to image versus substance. A woman VP -- even if terrible -- is good for women based on image alone.

14. A girl can be anything she wants....
as long as she's a virgin when she does it. Unless she gets knocked up by her redneck boyfriend. In which case she'll have shotgun marriage and she can be a wife and mother. And maybe run for VP a couple decades later.

13. Sorry, it's not a rumor
Go to realclearpolitics.com. It was posted on their list of Sunday columns. That's the best I can do, unless someone can teach me how to paste a link. Again, I really don't know computers well enough to do that.

Or you can go to Sunspot.net and probably find it there. that's the web address for Baltimore Sun.

15. Put up or shut up.
Put up your link to the article or it's bullshit. It's not up to me to verify YOUR claims, it's up to YOU.

So instead, you're just spreading a bullshit rumor.

7. It's to be expected...
Just as there are people who will vote for McCain because he's a white man, and Obama because he's a black man.

Somewhere, at some time, some person has probbly voted for a candidate because s/he was a blonde.

18. Baltimore is in Maryland. Maryland is BLUE!! Obama will win Maryland!
These women are the stupidest women in the world. Voting for a man because your girl didn't win. McCain hates women! He ridicules his wife in public. Votes against Equal Pay for Equal Work and WILL appoint extreme justices that WILL overturn Roe v. Wade. These women are racists! Plain and simple. They just are.

20. Maryland is super-blue
Except for the blip in electing Ehrlich as governor a few years back. But he was running against Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, who was a lousy candidate.

24. Hi, I'm a Life-Time Dem Voting Woman (LOL, SUCKERS) who only cares about Women... huh?
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 09:44 PM by RollWithIt
It makes no sense because it's a fucking lie people. She's a lifetime republican voter just looking to drum up support. These are the same Republican women who hold up jars of lipstick at Palin rallies. They will say anything and do anything to get a Republican supported. Why? Because they're STUPID. They don't want their children to learn about evil things like EVOLUTION! They cheer at 17 year old teenage pregnancies and buy OK! magazine. It's a weird sort of intelligent yet moronic American woman. Maybe 15% nationwide.
