Isn't it obvious why Rove says the ads have gone too far? |
|
Because Obama is starting them, and he knows it. They thought they'd be able to blatantly lie their way to victory. But Obama's fighting back. McCain's lies are already out there, so he's content. But Obama hasn't started hammering back, until now. So NOW he thinks they should stop. C'mon, you people wondering what he's up to. It's nothing that sinister or dire...he's just trying to play the media again. As always.

3. it's like walking up to the biggest guy on the playground and |

punching him in the face and saying...OK, let's not fight, let's talk about this.
Same result, methinks.

5. He's had plenty of practice, as he was surely a schoolyard bully as a kid. |
|
Can't you just picture him, standing at the front of the gang, thumbs in his ears and waving his hands to emulate an elephant's ears, yelling "Na-nana-na-na" at some defenseless little kid?
Everyone has seen them and hated them as a kid. No different as an adult.

11. Rove told the truth now so he could lie later and appear even-handed. |
|
I wouldn't even quote Rove.
Surely this falls under "How to gain the trust of the good people" - Rovian tactics 101

The lies are starting to backfire, and McCain needs to be more subtle of find another strategy for running the campaign.
