Skip those bullshit countrywide popularity polls - here's the numbers that REALLY COUNT!!
http://www.electoral-vote.com/

Geez, only a dozen popularity polls which really mean SHIT to winning this election. RIght now it's McCain 270, Obama 268 still but I'm putting a big astrick next to Nevada since it has been pulling democrat and the 2 polls used for Nevada are notorious right-wing leaning pollsters.

We're tight in Washington, Colorado, Minnesota, Michigan and Pennsylvania but I truly believe we're going to pick up all of those states come November.

The real battle is going to be Nevada, New Mexico, Indiana, Ohio and Virginia. These states were all Bush states in 2004 but right now are truly toss-ups in 2008. We have major senate races in New Mexico and Virginia where the democratic candidate is polling with double digit leads, so this should help us stay competitive. Ohio went democrat in 2006 with a new governor and senator dispite the 2004 election fixing chief himself, Kenneth Blackwell, running for the republicans as govenror.

Here's a thought for today. I live in Delaware, which will go Obama without a doubt. But I'm seeing something in Wilmington that I did not see with the 2004 elections (I lived in Philly suburbs for 2000). Everywhere I go there are Obama signs on cars and in store fronts. I counted THREE barber shops with pictures of Obama in their window - something that was not common back in 2004. The elections for all the above states will be won in the urban areas. We need to take the time to register voters and volunteer the GOTV for election day in cities like Seattle, Las Vegas, Denver, Santa Fe, Alberqueque, St Paul, Minneapolis, Detroit, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Richmond. If we can get higher that normal voter turn out and push back on the election fraud that the GOP is targetting for these cities, we can win all the states where these cities are located. I've done enough elections in Philadelphia to know that a 60%+ voter turnout in Philly will make it extremely difficult for the rest of the state go red.

So volunteer - get out and help the cause and work on these cities to help make their states BLUE!!!

1. Yup. The only poll that matters to anyone is his/her own state poll.
That's how we elect presidents -- by a state-based electoral college -- and one's own state is ONLY place any of us can make a difference.

Puede.

5. Not necessarily...
Oklahoma (where I live) is, more or less, a lost cause for Obama. So I'm making calls to swing states every day. We CAN make a difference in other states.

6. You completely miss the point. But that lets me kick this thread again.
And thank you for making those calls. Yes we can!

9. I do understand the point
But was just commenting on that one statement.

I hope everyone who is in a state like mine will put forth what efforts they can for the battleground states- making calls, donating when they can, etc.

11. I think both you and class are on the same page there!
I'm in Delaware and where I live we're pretty much a super solid blue so I'll head to Pennsylvania and help out where I can. Fortunately for me I'm close enough to Philly to help out but for those of you the bigger states they'll probably have you help out with phone banking the close states!

2. I hit the garage sales on Saturday
Driving around Montgomery County, MD, I saw quite a few Obama lawn signs and bumper stickers, even in affluent neighborhoods that I thought were predominantly Rethug. Not a single McCain sign. A couple for Ron Paul.

Of course, we're a reliably blue county in a blue state. But I haven't seen any evidence of support, let alone enthusiasm, for the other ticket so far.

3. Same thing when driving thru Amish Country in Pennsylvania
I pass thru Lancaster County when driving home to visit family and there was more Obama signs than McCain. Heck there were more Ron Paul signs than McCain. What almost made me wreck my car - there was this house I would pass all the time that had the 10 Commandments on the front lawn. Last time I went it also had an Obama sign.

4. Glad to see Texas as "Weak GOP"
In Waco, I have seen very, very few McCain bumper stickers or yard signs. (My husband says that's because they are all Republicans and don't feel the need to advertise.) I have the only Texans for Obama sign in my neighborhood, but no McSam signs either.

7. same up here in Fort Worth. that weak GOP is telling, isnt it? I am by no means
wearing my Karnak the Great Hat or anything, but with all the new voter registrations, and the 9% roughly undecided/other, Texas could be way closer than it would seem.

Obama signs are much more plentiful up here, and I have seen maybe 2 McCain bumper stickers ..where as between the TexasDemocrat, Obama, old Hillary bumper stickers plus the downticket signs, I am encouraged.

I was even polled by the opposition side in our legislative race, 97. I know it was them because OUR side didn't do it. Two questions:

who would you vote for in the presidential race and the HD 97 race?
That's it.

Three weeks ago, approximately.

We have yard signs everywhere for him. I am not seeing much for the opponent. I don't know whether to think the polling results shocked them so much that they aren't spending money or working very hard, or if they were so good they don't think they need to. It could be either way, actually.

8. Don't worry about Washington..
If Obama lost here, it would mean that *everything* collapsed. We have elected 2 democratic senators (Go Patty Murray!), 6 democratic representatives (Jay Inslee rocks), and a democratic governor. The most recent polls appear to be kind of flukes in the overall polling data, so don't worry!

EVERGREEN STATE IS GOING BLUE!! }(

10. I think Obama will win here but
Gregoire appears to be in trouble, the last two polls show Rossi leading (Rasmussen by 6% SUSA by 1%). She needs a big Obama victory here and right now it's looking like she's not going to get it.

12. I can say that in Indiana my husband and I have noticed ONLY Obama signs
we live near Indianapolis and work in an academic community, so these people (city types and academics) tend to vote blue, but I am surprised at the number of Obama signs and I think it has to do with the very depressed economy here. People in Indiana really resent $4.15 gas prices (the price of gas today, here near Indy) and no jobs!
