The Name Recognition Factor and Mrs. P----

It's a very simple fact.

People tend to vote for names they recognize.

I confess that sometimes I have done it myself when scanning over a long local ballot of choices for court clerks and judges. If I recognize a name and don't remember anything bad about the individual, I'll vote for them. Haven't you ever done the same thing?

The more we keep broadcasting the Alaska governor's name: P----, P----, P----,the more name recognition we help create. And the more votes she will get from people who recognize seeing that name.

The more bumper stickers and signs we make, the more letters to the editor that we writing, that include that woman's name, the more her name is seen among the general public. Same with Mc----.

The more opportunities we take to display Obama's and Biden's names, the more we increase their name recognition. So wear a t-shirt, get a bumper sticker, put up a lawn sign or a sign in your window. Write letters to the editor, never mentioning the opposition candidates, but prominently featuring Obama's name and/or Biden's.

Negative bumper stickers featuring Mrs. P----'s name and Mc----'s name just increase their name recognition. People will remember seeing the names but not necessarily the context,

Keep OBAMA's name prominently in the public eye. And BIDEN's name too.

I think George Lakoff has mentioned this recently along with other things, but I want DUers to focus on this one key thing.

I've spent more than 30 years in journalism and marketing, and this is stuff I learned in my journalism classes.

Please avoid using the opposition candidates' names, and keep this kicked.
