MSNBC: "Biden wearing French cuffs and dressed to the nines"
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 11:10 AM by godai
They were discussing the economy and put down Biden for being overdressed to impress voters. Chris Jansing added...yes, I was a little surprised by that. So, how was Palin dressed? No comments on that. $500 shoes, I believe. This is a ridiculous topic but they actually brought it up as a negative for Biden.

This is how we elect Presidents? It's insane. It will be monumental task to defeat the Repubs and their MSM conspirators. Yes, we can!

47. And didn't Bush require is cabinet members to wear suits to their meetings?
...in contrast to the laid-back dress code for Clinton's cabinet? And didn't CorpMedia insist that this was because Bush was a MBA president who'd run his meetings like a corporate board-room? Wasn't this all part of the "the adults are in charge" image?

So now CorpMedia thinks Biden is too well-dressed?

12. CBS News: Bidens make almost no money each year from dividends or interest.

http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/09/12/politics/horserace/entry4445194.shtml

<snip>

Joint income between Biden and his wife Jill rose from $215,000 to $249,000 between 1998 and 2006. These numbers reflect the total of Joe Biden's Senate salary, his Widener University School of Law teaching salary, and Jill Biden's teaching salary.

The Bidens give little to charity. 2007, in which they donated $995, was their most generous year, though in other years Biden donated honoraria from talk shows which were valued at higher amounts.

The Bidens make almost no money each year from dividends or interest. They deduct only state/local taxes, mortgage interest and what he donates to charity. 2003 was the last year they claimed a dependent child -- their daughter, Ashley.

21. Yes, the commentator...
...was clearly on the side of Palin. Then, the female pundit talked up Palin
and how she relates to blue-collar and average voters because her relatives
own a hardware store. Palin was described as "folksy" and they were praising
her style and her cutesy reference to her husband as "first dude." :eyes:

Then they mentioned that Joe wasn't at all like Sarah.

I thought...well, ok, there's another commentator there--he'll prop up the Dems.

Nope. He went off on Biden for his French cuffs and how he needed to appeal
more to the average voter.

This is so sick! So, it's about clothes? :eyes:

Biden gave a very information-rich speech, and he talked with authority about the
financial crisis. Palin read a bunch of lines that she doesn't intellectually
understand.

After Biden spoke, the commentator said, "That was Joe Biden, trying to tie John McCain
to George Bush."

Trying? McCain voted with Bush 90 percent of the time. He is tied to the Bush camp and
the facts bear that out. But never mind the truth--it's just Joe Biden "trying" to
make the connection.

WHAT IN THE HELL HAPPENED TO THE MEDIA IN THE PAST WEEK????? It's like watching "The Body Snatchers."

for MSNBC? I want to write to them and let them know how disgusting it was having to listen to Chris Jansing talk about the way Biden was dressed for his speech in St. Clair Shores, MI. This is what she gets paid to say when our economy is in free fall? I am so sick of their all Palin all the time and nasty digs against the Obama/Biden campaign. So much for impartial journalism.

When I was young, we didn't have money, but my parents were always conscientious about proper dress. Biden is a U.S. Senator and candidate for VP - he should dress well - it shows respect for the office.

37. This is why I don't watch most of the news chat shows on corporate media.
To remember how very intensely slanted they are, check out Stealing America: Vote by Vote. It refreshed my painful memories of 2004. We were here at DU, getting reports from the field of all kinds of election anomalies while the news channels were talking about how smooth things were going. Until very late at night when there were long lines in Democratic precincts still waiting to vote.

www.stealingamericathemovie.com

The movie gives an excellent overview of the several techniques Republicans have used to suppress the number of Democratic votes counted. It has a few very effective charts and graphs to show the statistical improbability of all the glitches happening to favor the Republicans.

But those TV clips were intense. Trying so hard to pretend the results were valid. Clips from the 2000 election and others too.

It's the first thing I thought of when they mentioned "French cuffs." By the way, was Biden wearing gold cufflinks with the initial "B" on them? *snort*

French cuffs were once considered to be more formal than button cuffs, although they are seeing a resurgence in the business environment. Traditional dress required that French cuffs be worn with a tie and jacket. However due to the emergence of business casual, French cuffs are now being worn without tie or jacket. French cuffs are generally preferred for formal black tie events.
