Palin - who got a D in macroeconomics: "We're going to reform the way Wall Street does business"

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/09/gov-palin-on-wa.html

<snip>

"We're going to reform the way Wall Street does business and stop the golden parachutes for CEOs who betray the public trust," she said.

This was the first time Palin had mentioned Wall Street in her stump speech. Mostly she tends to reprise large portions of her nomination speech from the convention. Palin herself may not be the most authoritative spokesperson on such issues. In the past, when she was running for Alaska governor, she freely admitted to a reporter that she got a "D" in macroeconomics in college.

McCain has been touting much the same message on the campaign trail today and the campaign has debuted a new campaign ad titled "Crisis.""

What precise reforms would Palin like to make, to better protect US investors? Unfortunately there's no way of knowing for sure. The candidate is not taking questions from the press.

1. D is the new C!
Who knew Dubya's "Gentleman's C" would look appealing 8 years later?

2. Republicans should be quaking in their boots right about now. A so-called "conservative"
threatening to reform Wall Street is not very lassiez-faire.

3. Well, That's Reassuring
McCain admits he doesn't understand economics and Palin got a D in it. Let's all go have a beer and let the economics thing sort its self out.

6. No they're not
They are not going to do anything to affect the lifestyle of the ultra-rich. If the members of the "CEO Club" thought that for even a millisecond, McCain and Palin would be toast as we speak.

It's all just blather.

9. She says what's convenient at the time...
She's a total tool, an insult to women & just hearing her voice annoys me. :banghead: Just when I thought noone could be more annoying than shrub, they find HER. Is the goal to irritate the people into following them so she'll just SHUT UP!?!

I love what I'm seeing from Obama though! He's calling them on their crap & putting the blame right where it belongs - Republican policy. The best part is that it's not a personal attack or petty. It's a huge issue & they screwed it up BIG TIME! I know next to nothing about the economy, but simple common sense tell me that lawlessness doesn't benefit us.

17. A D? No worries. McCain will show her the ropes...
After all, he was 894th in his class of 899... at the Naval Academy, which I'm sure has a very strong Economics department.

That's lower than me, and I didn't get a great grade (I just could not understand what my professor was saying - maybe I should have asked her for more help.) I didn't go into something where economics skill is needed. She did.

20. Every four (or 8) years these people come out with someone stupider and crazier
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 12:34 PM by nam78_two
and then we swallow the new crazy idiot the way we did the one before. This woman is a nightmare-she is like Bush, Cheney and Gingrich combined into one crazy, stupid, Biblical apocalyptic bag....

I am not sure whether to laugh or cry-this is like a bad Disney movie. A fucking creationist who believes in the rapture and probably got an "F" in any science class she ever took, the way she got a "D" in macroeconomics, is the one who is going to take care of this..

"Oh she is just like MEEEEE..." gush.."I also failed out of college/high school whatever"

"How elitist those libruls are wanting some one with actual brains and qualifications in a position of such power."

:banghead:

Believing the creationist story about dinosaurs? People can be smart but lack common sense. Palin doesn't have either one going for her.
