On Thursday, we will know the full effect of "Black Monday" on tracking polls.... |
|
...and it won't be good for the McCain campaign.
Obama and company are already getting an ad ready that highlights McCain saying this morning that the "fundamentals of the economy are still strong".
When the top 7 stories at DRUDGE, of all places, are all about the financial crisis.... it's not going to be a good week to be a Republican.
Especially one who consistently voted to deregulate the banking industry during his 26 years in congress.

1. They should show Herbert Hoover in 1930 who also said, "the fundamentals of the economy are strong" |
|
and then pan ahead 78 years to John McCain saying the same thing.

4. Ummm..."Black Monday" hasn't been very "black". |
|
The market's down 250-300. That's a normal day.
Yes, I believe things will continue to get worse, but we're not going to see any serious 1-day losses like we did in 1929. The whole "Black Monday" thing no longer applies.

6. The bankrupcy of a 158-year-old financial institution (Lehman)... is VERY black |
|
They survived the Civil War.
They survived the 1890s and the Robber Barons
They survived through 2 world wars.
They survived a world-wide economic depression
They survived the cold war
They survived the financial chaos following 9/11.
But... they didn't survive Bush.
That's pretty black.

5. I hope they tie it back into his 7 houses. |
|
He still owns the 7 houses. Of course the economy is strong, FOR HIM.
McCain really does not get it.

8. Didn't Hannity have a meltdown last week because someone |
|
said the economy was tanking? He went ballistic over the remark and told the guy to leave the show.

10. Minus 2.5% is hardly a 'Black Monday' |
|
Yes, we will know what effect the financial turmoil will have, but 'Black' means crash, and there's been no crash today.

I believe you are correct. At least I hope so - this shouldn't even be close.
