McCain admits he knows nothing about the economy, Palin admits she got a D in macroeconomics,
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 01:34 PM by DemsUnited
McCain's advisers are the same crowd that got us into this mess in the first place.

No wonder the McCain campaign is blatantly ripping off Obama's message and ideas.

How can we make sure they don't get away with it?? I'm already writing to newspapers & news channels...

On Edit: link to ABC article re: Palin's D in Macroeconomics. http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/09/gov-palin-on-wa.html

1. Its a well thought out plan by the GOP
No one with any economic sense would support GOP economic theories in the first place, so they run nothing but puppets for the Presidency and VP.

You know what, has DU thought about opening it's own news station like the TYT, through youtube?

7. It's college and she's pretty. It's not to hard to earn for a beauty queen.
I had to work my ass off since I don't spend my time on looking good. However, the idiots in my class who were focusing on looks seemed to get Cs and Bs through no effort.

3. a "D" in macro??? Holy shit...
I took econ in college just so I could meet girls (there weren't many girls in math, computer science, EE), and I never paid any attention in class and aced every exam... it was trivial! I mean they solved calculus problems by approximating the area under a curve with RECTANGLES. (Integration was too difficult)

19. It's fun if you look at Micro as you as an individual.
Micro is mainly seeing a country as a sole individual and there's of course a lot of derivatives, but nothing to strenuous. It was fun for me---I think it's the fact you take into account specific factors. Macro...well that's just an understanding of fiscal/monetary policy usages and trade tarrifs effecting consumption (in general).

Then I don't think it's a fair comparison to Sarah Palin.

23. Oh!
This makes me worry even more about her. Since her major was in journalism or communications or whatever it was, I can only assume she had to take the most basic (Econ 101) course in Economics. I tested out of this class (via AP) when I was in high school.

So at 17 I knew more about Macroeconomics than someone who may soon be the President of the United States. That's frightening. Truly.

11. McCain finished 894th out of 899 in his class. 5th from last. Bottom 1/2 of 1%.
Even Bush was smarter than that.

It's as if Republicans don't want any smart to be President.

Either that or nobody that smart runs as a Republican.

12. I'm curious to learn why she went to five colleges in a six year
period. That seems odd to me. I would think that about the time she applied to the fourth schools, someone in admissions would have been questioning her educational history. "Ug,Ms. Palin, why did you leave the other three schools".

Having been an educator for too many years to tell, I've never known anyone that attended so many schools is such a short period and then graduated from the fifth one.

economics. That is why they have advisors. What I do care about is whether they subscribe to the Bush philosophy on economics: "Tax cuts are the hammer and all problems are nails."

And based on what I have heard, Palin and McCain do buy into this philosophy, Obama and Biden do not.

20. I'd like to see all four candidates transcripts
Although it's been a long time for McCain and Biden they still would be telling. It would also make it real for people that think that the republican candidates are not the intellectual equals to the democratic candidates.
