I had a weird thought...What if the thugs are only using Palinocchio until |
|
after inauguration day, if they pull it off, that is? I mean there's enough stuff on her to kick her out of office before McCain kicked the bucket, and they could simply appoint someone who's actually competent, and has a grip on the neocon agenda...like Rice, for example.

1. I have no doubt that choosing Palin was about the neocons staying in power... |
|
But Palin's strings would be easier to pull than Rice's imo.

2. Maybe, via blackmail... |
|
But she's already stated a desire to be president...she clearly loves to have and abuse power. I think she could be a substantial pain in the ass for the neocons.

It sounds like a lot of neocons are pissed about the pick.

5. If McCain dies she will be President unless she decides to step down. |
|
If McCain dies she will be President unless she decides to step down. She can't be forced to "step aside" other than by impeachment.
If parties could just ask people to step aside then the Presidency, elections, and chain of succession would be meaningless.
What if Obama pissed off the DNC? Do you think they could just say "sorry you are no longer President. Harry Reid is now president".?

There's enough questionable stuff in her background to impeach her...or at least force her to resign, as Agnew did. Agnew was another inexperienced politician. It only took him six years to rise from the office of County Executive to the VP.

I guess that's why, as horrible as it seems in some ways, it's kind of amusing to try to figure out. After all, until we can anticipate their next move, the game is theirs. Living in the moment doesn't work well with politics.

21. It's very frustrating for those of us on the "outside". We don't |
|
know anything for sure. We have to guess based on our best judgment. Further, all of us are totally powerless. Why else would be spending so much time on DU commiserating with our fellow pseudo-revolutionaries?
We all know that the Bush Cabal is guilty of the worst war crimes and treason ever committed. Yetm have to sit around and pray that we can win enough Congressmen to launch some meaningful hearings, especially impeachment hearings. Yet, NOTHING has dented the Bush armer, nothing. He has raped our Country and told us to "fuck off".
The horror of it all has driven too many Americans to escape into TV, beer drinking and maybe even and increase in religious activity. For most Americans, the awful thought that our President could be a ruthless traitor is just to terrible to face.
So, here we are facing an upcoming election which should have been going about 85% to 15% for the Dems and yet it's still a tossup. What else are we going to have to endure? It is beyond cruel that two crooks like McCain and Palin are able to dupe so many people. They aren't even shrewd or subtle.
To make matters even worsen we have racists and the Evangelicals, both convinced that the election of a black non-Evangelical man would just about be the end of the world. We have the Republicans who take pride in their criminal skills, while their followers cheer them on.
America, where are you going with this? Are you once again going to turn your lives over to unscrupulous thieves and traitors or have you had enough? Are you courageous enough to weigh the integrity, intelligence and skills of the candidates and vote for those who will look out for your best intrests even if it conflicts with some ancient anxieties rooted in prejudice and superstition?
Now is the time. Now is time. Now is the time to seize control of the Government of your beloved Country. She will appreciate your efforts and reward you with gigantic strides out of the cesspool of greed and cruelty and into the light of a great new day. Would you do that for America, Americans?

There will be a Democratic controlled Congress and an established line of replacement. They can not replace her willy nilly with whomever they choose.

15. But she knows their agenda, and knows when to keep her mouth shut... |
|
I never thought I'd ever say this; but I'd rather have her in there than this bimbo. At least we wouldn't have to worry about her pissing off Russia or somesuch.

16. You have to win an elecction before you can do that... |
|
And if Palin is so tainted -- and they knew it, as opposed to her just being ridiculously unvetted -- why in the world would they take the risk of putting her on the ticket, knowing that if the press coverage goes the wrong way, it could doom the entire campaign? It doesn't really make a lot of sense. Too risky.

18. Sometimes you don't need to win... |
|
They could put her in knowing that nobody really knew anything about her. Using the short time period to their advantage, they sing "poor innocent hockey mom who's just like a regular gal and is being brutally and viciously attacked by the left-wing media blah blah" the same way they did with Dumbyass until a large enough % of the population is convinced to vote thug. Then they can tweak the results electronically as needed.

20. Yeah, but there's no way they could guarantee that result. |
|
Don't get me wrong, I'd agree with you f there was a way the GOP could guarantee the sort of coverage we've seen. But there's no guarantee of it, and in fact there have been a lot of negative stories (everybody and their mothers have been calling her out on the Bridge to Nowhere lies), and it will probably only get worse in October as the Alaska state legislature issues subpoenas in their troopergate investigation.
So ... if John McCain knew all of this, knew it was gonna go down, why take the risk? It seems like it would be much easier to just grab a much cleaner patsy, then shaft them after the election for whatever scandal you could pin on them. Hell, even more than that, why not just pick the person you want? Rice would've energized the base just as much as Palin.
