I made a GOP pollster laugh today
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 03:19 PM by nichomachus
I just got a call from a GOP pollster. I noticed that the number on my caller ID was from Orange Country, CA, where I know no one, so I was suspicious right away.

The woman, who was very nice asked me to take a short survey -- four questions. I usually don't, but I said OK.

First question was "Which will be the main issue for you in the coming election? A. Preserving the sanctity of life. B. Preserving traditional marriage. C. Securing our country from terrorists. D. Repairing the economy.

Me: None of the above. Republicans are criminals and I won't vote for criminals.

Second, "Will you be voting for (local candidate) for State Assembly?"

Me: Is he a Republican? (yes) Then, I won't vote for him.

Third: "Have you decided on which presidential candidate you will support?"

Me: Anyone but the liar John McCain and that sideshow freak Palin.

At this point the poor soul was plugging on with her script:

Fourth: Would you be interested in volunteering to work for the Republican party in your community.

As she said this, you could tell that she was realizing the absurdity of the question and she started giggling.

Me: Not if you held a freaking gun to my head.

At that point she just started laughing out loud.

I thanked her and hung up -- and I feel so much better having gotten that off my chest.

3. Someone running for local office asked me to vote for him. I asked if he was a Repug
and when he said yes I told him I am so sick of Republicans I can't even see straight. He slunk off, sheepish and deflated. Ha ha ha.

Good for you on that survey.

36. Same here
Came to my door in 2006. I said no way will I ever vote for a republican ever again. He said okay I will make a note of that and no repukes have bothered me this election.

Of course the Obama sign in my yard might give them a clue as well. LOL

9. San Diego is the reddest part of CA
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 03:24 PM by Cronus Protagonist
However, the OC is still very red compared to Los Angeles and SF, where all the sane people live.

12. Some of the rural areas, and Bakersfield, are redder. But Orange Co.
is red enough, being the roost of B-1 Bob Dornan.

31. A few things to remember
Be nice to the people calling from pollsters. These people are working for hourly wage at a telephone calling center. They are not from a camapign. When groups pay to poll, regardless of what kind of poll it is, they using calling centers. The same person was probably asking people's toilet tissue preferances last week. They read a CATI system computer screen with questions on it.

I actually had a polling person cracking up in 2004 also. I got the person to admit they hated Bush and were voting for Kerry.

That said, you see very few McCain signs here. LOTS of Obama signs on cars. Dems are making progress here.

19. Since I live here -- yes
In my community -- a 55-and-over complex -- we have 2,000 homes. To date, I have seen lots of Obama signs and one lonely McCain signs. The PUMAs kept their Hillary signs up until after the convention and have now taken them down, but have not put up Obama signs. I'm guessing they will not be voting for Grandpa Simpson and Miss Piggy, but some of them are very stubborn.

Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 03:40 PM by Bensthename
Over the weekend I received a call from an Obama fundraiser person. She asked if I could make a donation to the Obama/Biden ticket at this time.
I said hell yes I could, and then went on a 5 minute rant on Palin and the media using her for McCain since he sucks so bad and she is nothing more then a gimmick.. She was cracking up..
Then sent $75.. Felt good too.

Well, you know for sure that wasn't a volunteer.

That was a hired gun. At least we now know the campaign is having trouble getting volunteers!

As for me, I got a call from Keith, who works for Senator Barack Obama and we had an enlightened conversation about the virtues of knocking on doors (headed to northern Virginia soon!).

They also ask what candidate I was voting for. The questions were all geared towards positive statements on deregulation. I strongly disagreed with all the statements.
