How Can Obama Lose His Lead More Than Once Without Ever Regaining It? What am I Missing? |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 04:20 PM by Median Democrat
I have been reading news stories since the Republican convention, and they are always talking about Obama losing his lead. My question is how can Obama constantly be losing his lead? Afterall, if you lose a lead, you can't lose it again, unless you first regain it? Maybe it works differently in politics, but in football, once a team loses its lead, it cannot lose it again, until it regains it.
Yet, even before the Democratic Convention, the constant story I have always read and continue to read is that Obama has lost his lead. It is remarkable how the MSM has turned the loss of a lead, which should happen just once without Obama recapturing the lead, into an event that has stretched over weeks.
Yet, don't be surprised to get a few more days of "Obama loses lead!," which will leave you wondering, "Again? Did he regain it when no one was looking?"

2. Got me. To be honest, I skip every daily, weekly, whatever tracking poll I can. |
|
I'm sure the Democratic party is doing it's own internal polling, and assessing a day to day race status, but for this voter/party member, I'm just not as concerned with every little peak and valley.
It's never been a big interest for me. I'm 56, so political polling - especially daily, 24/7 polling "news" - is something I didn't grow up with.

4. True, MSM Spin - Where's McCain's Post-Convention Lead? |
|
Right after the Republican convention, McCain did have a lead, but somehow the MSM is now just skipping over it, and focusing on how OBAMA LOST HIS LEAD! What? You would think that if Obama lost his lead, he would have to regain it at some point in time before he could lose it again.
Instead, it seems like the MSM ignores polls showing Obama leading or cutting into McCain's post-convention bounce, and focusing only on polls showing McCain leading or Obama's lead diminishing, which explains how Obama losing the lead can be turned into a month long event. Somewhere in America, Obama is losing ground in a poll, and it is THAT POLL that will receive the most attention by the MSM.
Conversely, it is absolutely taboo to discuss any poll that shows McCain/Palin losing ground because that conflicts with the month long narrative of Obama has lost his lead.
