Words matter OR "Did McCain inadvertently admit Swiftboaters lied for Bush" |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 04:20 PM by Godhumor
Today, the McCain campaign accused Obama of encouraging a "Swiftboat" style ad from a 537 (Swiftboat being the McCain's team choice of words).
If there's one thing this campaign has shown us, words, intentional meaning or not, are powerful (lipstick on a pig, anyone). In that light, I, frankly, think this complaint needs bigger play because:
Using the words a "Swiftboat attack" in a derisive way to indicate that the POW ad is not telling the truth means the Republicans are acknowledging that the original Swiftboaters simply lied and maliciously attacked a war hero.
Quite simply, this means the republicans just publically admitted that the Swiftboat campaign was a purposeful malevolent smear attack for political gain.
