The 527's are coming to the rescue!
http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/09/top_democrats_privately_urging.php#more

Several senior Democratic strategists unaffiliated with Obama's campaign convened a private conference call late last week with at least four dozen of the party's most prolific donors to progressive causes and outside groups -- a call designed to instill a sense among donors that things are "pretty damn urgent" right now, one of the organizers of the call tells me.

The call is yet another sign that donors and outside operatives -- who had earlier gotten the message from Obama that he doesn't want such activity -- now recognize that Team Obama is privately hoping for such efforts to gear up in earnest.

Interestingly, there's little talk right now of forming a new vehicle for such ad spending. Instead, the Dem operatives on the call urged donors to seriously consider putting big money into existing groups that are starting to organize or advertise in key states.

Among them: Working America, a labor-backed group which has hundreds of thousands of members in Ohio and other industrial states, Planned Parenthood, the Association for Retired Americans, Women's Voices Women's Votes, and other such organizations.

We could have used them back in June, but better late than never.

1. I'm glad about Planned Parenthood being on the list.
Let Americans decide if they really want Roe v. Wade overturned.

If McCain becomes president, it probably will be within the next 8 years.

2. I slightly disagree.
Now, after the conventions, is the best time to unleash them. Their resources aren't as vast as the 527s on the payroll of the GOP, I'd suspect, so it's a good idea to unleash their full fury when it matters most, rather than to spread it out over a span of five or six months.

This is assuming I'm right about the resources vs. those of GOP 527s.

3. Obama was discouraing donors from giving any money
to 527's. They have now apparently recognized that to be, well, a gigantic mistake.

4. Not a gigantic mistake, a timed, paced attack, to control the peak and win the race
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 06:21 PM by Boz
I know in the pop culture of instant gratification everything happens all at once, but like in music there is a beat a rythm to a win

As in any kind of race, be it horse race, car race or what have you, there is a pacing to win.

With the exception of a 100 yard dash there isnt a race in the world that the only thing you do is push all to the wall right out of the gate

Every race is about watching, waiting and knowing when to jam the gears, slap the horse or to put on the energy for the last sprint, the final leg without tiring out, blowing your engine or breaking an ankle.

Obama gets that and has been pacing the race perfectly and is now jamming into the final leg.

If the 527s were out before they would have peaked too soon, now they are like a nitro boost, hang on for the ride.

:sarcasm:

Dear lord, people, blind faith is for the Republicans.

7. He s not behind and since you know the republican way so well and have taken up their cause
How can this be put delicately, Dont let the door hit ya where the good lord(or deity of your choice) split ya.

Pessimistic self fulfilling failure by fear mongering is also a repug trait and you got that down pat.
