Gas goes back up ... banks tumble ... nothing could make the Republicans happier.
Everything goes to hell in a handbasket seven weeks before the election. And the Democrats win big.

Barack Obama inherits a stinking pile of shit that Jesus Christ himself might not be able to fix. Meanwhile, the Republicans get a free, four-year ride, pointing their fingers, screaming, and shaking their heads. "See? He was too inexperienced." "He just couldn't deliver what he promised." And, of course, "That's what happens when you elect one of them!"

Even better, McCain is no longer around and, thank heaven, Palin isn't either. The royalist wing of the Republican party hates both of them. In fact, hates them so much they'd rather see a Democrat in there for four years.

Just thinking out loud.

I dont think so. They know obama has the ability to clean this mess up, and start off of in the direction of better days, which would guarantee him an 2012 re-election to keep up the good work and his vision. whereas even if mccain won and we fell further into recession, the GOP would disown mccain like he has disowned the GOP. "he was a maverick, he wouldnt listen to our old conservative wisdom!"

2. I don't think it will work this time.
This time, everyone knows this mess belongs to the Republicans.

Obama just needs to be smart and keep reminding everyone of its ownership, and keep beating it into everyone's heads that there's no quick, easy fix for this clusterf*ck Bush has handed the American people.

I don't think they can pass this one off as anything other than what it is.

4. Actually, gas fell $5-something a barrel today...
so they have no excuse now to raise it...oh, that's right Ike...I don't buy that. Gas didn't go up here but a few cents, and other states are getting gouged for $5+ a gallon....fucking criminals.

5. Gas will be going down again soon
Wholesale gas is down in the $2.50 range. We can be pretty certain that it will generally stay relatively low until Nov 4.
