...*crazy*. :)

Called McCain out on his untruths. People in the audience said loudly "They're lying!"

Obama said "They're not telling the truth."

What a classy guy.

Not sure if the feed is available anywhere else, seeing it on the local ABC channel.

1. Is there a specific issue with Colorado's water rights?
Can you give us a quick primer on the issue? :)

2. Sure, it's a big issue here:
http://www.denverpost.com/opinion/ci_10218277

Memo to: John McCain.

From: Five million thirst-crazed Coloradans.

Subject: Forget about winning our nine electoral votes next November. We don't vote for water rustlers in this state; we tar and feather them!

Yes, fellow citizens of the state whose official motto is "Whiskey is for drinking, water is for fighting," John McCain has thunk the unthinkable — and proposed renegotiating the 1922 Colorado River Compact.

To quote from Charles Ashby's story in the Friday Pueblo Chieftain:

"The water compact that Colorado and other upper basin states have with California and Arizona should be renegotiated," U.S. Sen. John McCain said Thursday.

---

Just for perspective the Colorado State Fair is in Pueblo. :)

Many latinos in the background! Pueblo went to Hillary but the latinos have come out in numbers for Obama!

3. Renegotiated - let me hold my side!
That's as silly as his assertion that he's going to re-regulate the financial & investment industry and change Washington while he's at it.

:hi: from Lakewood, CO.

10. Oh damn - that's a game-changer.
Absolute game-changer.

Of course, it's not *just* a game-changer, we're talking about access to the building block of life. There's only one way that water is going if the deal gets re-negotiated, and it isn't toward the people of Colorado.

14. I love how he went to Pubelo to point out the water rights issue.
Lots of agriculturalists in Southern Colorado. And they go to local farmers markets all over Colorado, and will spread the word about it.

4. Crowd has been their loudest just now when Obama mentions the diversity of the US.
Everyone chanting "USA USA USA" with regards to Obama's "White America, Black America, Latino America, Asian America, Native America"!

5. In case anyone didn't know, the Colorado River no longer reaches the sea.
"The Colorado River's end at the Gulf of California - the river does not actually reach the Gulf above land, but seeps through under ground - the border with California can be clearly seen to the right of the arrow - more water and larger fields exist on the more red colored California side"

7. Yep, and McCain wants *more* of it siphoned off of Colorado.
Most of our water is in the form of snow, rain not so much (check city-data). We can't afford to have more of it siphoned.

13. Colorado is *ours*!
Guaranteed. We went to full paper ballots. McCain is an idiot and while parts of Colorado are an evangelical stronghold they underestimate the youth.

15. We did?
Last election I remember having a choice of a Diebold machine or a paper ballot (wisely, I chose the latter). I thought the Denver area used another type of machine though.

Damnit! :(

Going to be a bit harder now.

6. "In this election there's a difference between me and them. I got you."
I'm sure this is part of his regular stump (but I can't remember), but it really resonnated with the crowd.

8. It's over, great stump speech.
I'm glad one of the local TV stations here covered it live. Quite nice of them and unexpected.
