OHIO: Paid positions available with Ohio Campaign for Change. Interested?
This came to me through the my local Obama contacts in California

If you are interested and honestly can commit yourself to these long hours, please send me a pm.

I do not know what the rate of pay is, and I hope that wouldn't matter too much. These positions are paid positions, which means serious work and responsibilities.

The Ohio Campaign for Change is hiring immediately for positions in the Ohio Vote Corps

OVC Objectives:
- Running a targeted, efficient GOTV operation
- Street Team action aiming to generate earned media while educating Ohioans about early voting
- Building crowds for campaign events
- Pushing early voting

This is a 7 day per week, 14 hours per day job. It starts, at the latest, September 22nd. There are limited spaces and we're hiring ASAP.

OVC members must be willing to canvass for many hours at a time, phone bank, knock on doors in tough neighborhoods, and travel anywhere in Ohio. Bringing one's own car is not a job requirement, but is extremely desirable.

1. This is what I like to see.
7 days a week, 14 hours per day, going anywhere and everywhere in Ohio. I can tell you there ain't many Republicans that committed to McCain.

3. That's how we win it, I'd go if I could get out of work.
I'm still tempted, if it was a set group of x-number of days, I could swing it, but I'd rather see someone with more flexibility take these positions.

They'll probably get to meet the man, and/or be invited to some special events.

5. I have been volunteering in Maine and there are two recent
college grads who are paid staffers. One is working for the Obama campaign and the other is working for the Maine Democratic party. These kids are working close to 100 hours a week and doing an incredible job. I am so proud of them. They are both hoping they will get hired by the Obama Administration after the election. I would certainly write a glowing recommendation for them if asked.

On Labor Day, they were excited that they only had a 7 hour work day. If all the staffers around the country work as hard as these two, Obama is in great shape.

2. I almost got a job like that this summer in CO
After four interviews, however, they finally told me they needed someone who could stay on through Nov. (which is what I thought anyway). That ruled me out as I go to school out of state.

8. Send me a pm...
Include your contact information, any experiences you have had in campaigning (if any), and as a reference, the name and contact info of any local Obama office person with whom you've had contact.

Also, where you live, if you have a car, and the specifics of your availability, ie: from 9/25 through 10/25.

9. Hrumph.
I don't have enough posts to send a pm. :( I've contacted the administrators for guidance. The last few questions are easy. I live in Indy, but am from Cincinnati. I was trying to figure out how to re-register in OH in the next few weeks as a vote there is "worth" more than in IN. (I held out hope here for a long time). Car- yes, available 24/7 starting on Saturday through Election Day. The first ?'s I'd rather not post here.

And reply to this message tomorrow afternoon, then I'll see your reply in my "My DU".

You should by then have an answer from the moderators and we'll proceed from there, if that's alright.
I don't recall if pm priveleges took place after a certain number of day or certain number of posts.
We'll get it together!

11. Well, I've not received guidance from the admins.
The pm won't go through because I don't meet the post threshold. I'd post my personal e-mail, if that's what you suggest.

Yes, come play in the Lounge!

Tell us what you've said here about not being able to do PM's yet, and why you need to...

We will help you, and gladly!

You don't need very many posts, if I recall correctly...

Welcome to DU!

16. Pay rate
is like $2k per month, at least that's what similar canvassing positions around the country go for.
