I hate Chris Matthews, but when his wet finger hits the wind, he's a master. |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 11:44 PM by Atman
He abso-fucking-lutely hammered the Republican shill tonight. Never mind the C3PO getup she was wearing, she was a total android in her canned responses to Matthews' equally calculated jabs. Matthews is a shill for ratings, but now that he's on our side...go for it, Chris.

6. I watched him earlier tonight. Ya gotta love him when he's in that groove. |
|
He questions, questions the answer, says "that doesn't make sense", then dismisses the guest speaker with that "you're an idiot" smirk.

I caught the last 45 seconds of his show leading into 'Countdown" on my DVR.
"Your side has BLOWN it, don't ask for four more years". Chris howls.
And then he says...
"By the way, I think we do it better here then they do"
I wonder what he was talking about there.
I got to DVR this at 2am.

24. He was making the case that Obama has not clearly defined the GOP failures |
|
I completely agree. Matthews at the end of the program basically gave Obama a point by point blueprint to slam Republicans for their failures since 2000. That's where the, "By the way, I think we do it better than they do," comment came from, essentially belittling the Obama campaign strategy and themes.

15. Matthews was at least questioning the audacity of Republicans running against their own records.... |
|
... but I would never call Matthews a master. As he demonstrated tonight, he's not a good debater or even moderator, coming across as excited and erratic. His point sounded more like complaining and exasperation than a reasoned argument.

17. I guess I like the way he simply asked people to explain themselves... |
|
...instead of laying out the answer he wants disguised as a question. Remember the original sub line...I know Matthews is an opportunist, so this isn't about that part of it. I just like the way he allows the victim to dangle in the wind. You call it excited and erratic. I thought it was good tactically.

26. Ok, but his lack of having a coherent line of questioning allows the spokespeople .... |
|
... to spew their nonsense without any real fact-checking, and the helter skelter style inhibits the ability to understand what's being discussed.
