Colin Powell "still undecided"
And the mystery goes on-

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/

(CNN) — Former Bush Secretary of State Colin Powell said Monday that he has not yet decided which candidate to back in this year’s presidential race.

The election of an African-American president “would be electrifying,” Powell told a George Washington University audience, “but at the same time make a judgment here on which would be best for America.

“I have been watching both individuals, I know them both extremely well, and I have not decided who I am going to vote for. And I'm interested to see what the debates are going to be like because we have to get off of this ‘lipstick on a pig’ stuff and get into issues,” he said.

5. I don't have respect for his opinion, but I have an INTEREST in it
Fact is a lot of Americans are still in denial about how this war was sold to us under false pretenses. It's a legit debate to raise in this campaign *but* every republican voice that endorses Obama, counts in the big picture. He's not going to UNconvince anyone to vote for Obama, but he just may make some nay-sayers look twice.

22. I agree - most Americans still have a pretty good opinion of Powell
Bill Maher, for example, says that Powell is his dream president...

3. again showing he only cares about himself
only ignorant people need to watch the debates to figure out who to vote for. both candidates have a record out there going back years and we know their position on the issues.

what exactly is Colon Bowel waiting for ? what does he need to know ? what issues does he care about where info on the candidates is not out there ?

8. Ditto
It's rope-a-dope...at the last minute, Powell will decide that the only way this country can be saved is with Palin and what's his name.

10. Yeah, but the longer he takes to do it
is good for Obama. It looks like he is seriously considering him.

Even better is if he endorses no one. As a lifelong republican, that helps Obama.

17. Powell donated the maximum to McCain in Q3/'07, but will he endorse McCain's neocon foreign policy?
Powell must still be angry Cheney and his neocons gave him bogus information when he testified before the United Nations in the run-up to the war in Iraq--now the endless occupation costing us upwards of $10 billion a month.

These same folks are advising John McCain. His chief foreign policy adviser and spokesman is Randy Scheunemann, executive director of the Committee to Liberate Iraq and board member of PNAC.*

Surely, Powell will not endorse more 'Bush Doctrine' foreign policy. We will soon see.

21. Maybe not. You might not like Powell, but he is a REAL person, unlike Palin.
That is the biggest mistake to me in choosing Palin. REAL people, SERIOUS people have got to have a hard time standing behind her or McCain now that he has chosen her. Especially with McCain's age and health issues.

Perhaps the best we get is NO endorsement, but that is still a defacto endorsement for Obama.

27. He was, for awhile, a wonderful role model for all Americans,
especially African Americans. He could have had the Republican Presidential nomination at one point.
And with all of that going for him, he hooked up with the Bush Administration and became their "flunky". That always saddened and puzzled me.

12. Wow. I think that is quite good for US and bad for THEM. Though you know if he
backs Obama, people who want to believe it are going to say it was a raciallly motivated decision, no matter that Colin Powell is the whitest black guy on earth.

But, after the debates, he should endorse.

23. As someone already pointed out
Powell has recently donated the maximum possible amount to McCain:

http://fundrace.huffingtonpost.com/neighbors.php?type=name&lname=powell&fname=colin&search=Search

Would he have done that if he was even considering supporting Obama?

My guess is that he's either looking to time his endorsement to have the maximum benefit for McCain, or else he's looking for an excuse to endorse him without looking like a tool.

24. At this point, what Powell thinks is completely irrelevant. He's lost any integrity he may have had
Allowed Buscho to use him in front of the UN to manipulate the public; he knew it was a lie and said NOTHING. Allowed us to go to war, left office quietly and since has said very little.

Now, the same damn people who used him want 4 more years and he can't decide????? Loser.
