Palin Appears Shaky, Jarred and Off Balance
I've been watching videos of Palin today and her voice is complete shaky. She is stumbling over words she normally runs on through and her eyes are darting back and forth much more frequently than you'd expect.

I think the MSM exposure of her lies and the SNL skit have truly hit a nerve. She's losing her luster and reeling from how tough the campaign is becoming for her, now that she's been exposed for the empty (pant)suit she is.

She's got nothing, been exposed for it, and now doesn't even know how to fake it anymore.

1. I think Alaska will take her back.
It's far more fitting for her than the national stage.

Changing colleges six times in five years or whatever it was does not seem like the kind of personality that can stick to anything terribly long.

34. Even Alaskan republicans aren't too crazy about her
Naysayer

Two Fridays ago, Lyda Green, the president of the Alaska state senate, awoke at about 6 A.M. to a call from one of her aides. “She started yelling,” Green said last week, over the telephone from Wasilla, Alaska. “I said, ‘I can’t hear you. What are you saying?’ She finally got it out: ‘McCain has chosen Palin as his running mate!’ I was just silent.”

(snip)

But in the competitive world of Alaskan Palin critics Green stands apart. She’s sixty-nine years old, a conservative Republican who represents Palin’s home town. Palin supported Green when she first ran for the state senate. Unlike some partisan critics, when Green speaks ill of Palin she sounds more like a disappointed grandmother than a political hit woman. Her official biography lists her interests as “family, reading, bridge, piano, traveling, tennis,” and on the morning of the Palin announcement she was sleeping in past six only because she had been up late sewing.

A reporter from the Anchorage Daily News called later that Friday morning, and Green didn’t think twice about rendering her judgment on Palin. “She’s not prepared to be governor,” she said, in comments soon posted on the paper’s Web site. “How can she be prepared to be vice president or president? Look at what she’s done to this state. What would she do to the nation?”

Green and Palin were friends and ideological allies throughout the nineties. “If you had looked at our résumés, as far as being pro-life, pro-N.R.A., pro-family, pro-parental control, saving taxpayer dollars, keeping government out of our lives, we would have been identical,” she said. She traces the chill in their relationship to her decision not to endorse Palin in her 2006 gubernatorial primary. (She stayed neutral.) As governor, Green says, Palin, unlike her predecessors—Democrats and Republicans—has ignored leaders in the legislature and turned every policy disagreement, whether a dispute over a tax on studded tires or a recent debate on rebate checks, into a personal vendetta. “That became her style: in the media implying a negative picture of the legislature,” Green said.

(snip)

Green insists that she’s not the only Republican who is stunned by McCain’s decision; she’s just the most vocal about it. Privately, she says, many other Alaskans are as critical as she is. That’s not how it looked down on the floor among her state’s delegates the night that Palin spoke in St. Paul. The Alaskans, who earlier in the week had undergone media training to learn how to stay positive when talking to reporters about Palin, raised “Palin Power” signs and chanted “Drop the puck!” (something to do with hockey). When Palin walked onstage, they yelled, “We love you!” Asked what he thought of Palin’s speech, Lyda Green’s husband, Curtis, said that he and his wife didn’t see it. “No, can’t stand to watch her,” he said. Lyda was more diplomatic. “I had a previous engagement,” she said. “I was watching the U.S. Open.” ♦

4. I hope whatever assurances the McCain campaign might have given her
that she's their new, protected "golden girl" are wearing thin quickly. The facade needs to crack. The MSM will never make a true effort to educate the voters on Palin's political history, her religious beliefs, or her ideological positions.

If she has to melt down from the inside out, so be it.

7. CNN is shit!
They do a little story about how Palin won't talk to the media and how most VP's do and then do a story on how Biden talks so much and how his Gaffe's hurt him and he says the wrong thing. So is it smarter just not to talk to these bastards like Sarah is doing? I don't get it...I thought CNN was supposed to just give the news!

This could be the first time anyone has ever called her on the things she's done and said. She hasn't even held a press conference and she's looking that bad? If so, by the time the debate rolls around and she has to try to defend McCain on the economy, she may have to come up with some kind of excuse to get out of it.

15. She's being indoctrinated by the neocons to be the new Cheney
according to Pat Buchanan:

Will the neocons who tutored President Bush in the ideology he pursued to the ruin of his presidency do the same for GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin?

Should they succeed, they will destroy her. Yet, they are moving even now to capture this princess of the right and hope of the party.

In St. Paul, Palin was told to cancel a meeting with Phyllis Schlafly and pro-life conservatives. McCain's operatives said Palin had to rest for her Wednesday convention speech.

Yet, on Tuesday, Palin was behind closed doors with Joe Lieberman and officials of the Israeli lobby AIPAC. There, according to the Washington Post, Palin took and passed her oral exams.

(snip)

Heading home to Alaska to prepare for her interview with Charlie Gibson, Palin was escorted by Randy Scheunemann, McCain's foreign policy guru and, until March, a hired agent of the Tbilisi regime.

Scheunemann's lobbying assignment: Bring Georgia into NATO, so U.S. troops, like 19-year-old Track Palin, will be required to fight Russia to defend a Saakashvili regime that has paid Scheunemann and his partner $730,000.

Reportedly, a phone conversation was held between Saakashvili and Palin, in which Palin committed herself to the territorial integrity of Georgia, though South Ossetia and Abkhazia have declared independence and been recognized by Moscow, which now has troops in both.

Also on Palin's plane was Steve Biegun, formerly of Bush's National Security Council, and Scheunemann's choice to tutor her. Of Biegun, Steven Clemens of the New American Foundation says, "He will turn her into an advocate of Cheneyism and Cheney's view of national security issues."

24. I foretell heavy cognitive dissonance ahead
It's becoming clear that Pentecostalists like Palin see the world in terms of a cosmic battle between good and evil, a holy war in which anybody not on your side is diabolical.

She may have started off prepared to accept that people who didn't support her were merely misguided. But the heavier and more biting the attacks, the more personal they become, the more they question the very foundations of her faith, the more she is going to be pushed into that us vs. them mentality.

This is pop psychologizing, of course -- but I'm willing to bet three matchsticks and a coke cap that I'm right. The harder Palin is pushed, the more she's going to see her political opponents as the party of Satan, out to destroy her personally. As a result, she's going to feel increasingly paranoid. And that has the potential for making her say and do some very strange things.

At any rate, we shall see how it develops.

36. I think the Republicans are giving her a polite 'cold shoulder'
First, I want to say this before I forget: Up in Alaska, she and hubby found it easier to manipulate/intimidate people and situations. Now, under a very big spotlight it's not so easy. Maybe too, those she manipulated (or intimidated) find it now easier to speak out than they did before. With all the reporters up in Alaska right now, who knows what is being said and done, and what will be soon reported.

What I'm thinking is she might be receiving the 'cold shoulder' from loyal Republicans that were just last week coming to her defense; who lied right along with her; and were just willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. Now, after all that has been uncovered, and yet so much more is hidden, they may find that she just might be a bit too dangerous and extreme to sit in such a high office.

I'm sure that many Republican Party Loyalists have had many of the same thoughts about Palin as the rest of us - we may never hear of it, but I bet they're thinking real hard. I know I would if the shoe was on the other foot.

Most Republicans didn't know much, if anything about Palin. Just prior to the Convention, what they knew was either told to them by the McCain people or the so-called 'liberal' news. They chose to believe McCain.

Now that time has passed and more reliable information has come out; observing that she does not stray from the same tired script of distortions; and after the Gibson interview - I'm certain loyal Republicans have come to similar conclusions as we have. Sarah Palin is painfully under-qualified, and dangerously controlling, secretive, and arrogant.

Since the Convention this is what her party has found: Learned she was party to the Corrupt Bastard Club; learned she backed away when the FBI investigations got hot; and learned how she capitalized on the demise of the CBC, stating she "took them on"; learned her tenure in Alaska is a big, embarrassing soap opera. I can see where many Republicans would distance themselves for fear of what she is incapable or capable of doing to them as VP, and possibly as POTUS.

Who needs another controlling, secretive and vindictive Dick Cheney? Who needs another "God's plan for blah, blah, blah war" GW Bush*? Who needs another shoot from the hip, un-knowledgeable GW Bush? Who would want not only more of the same, but possibly worse of the same?

Hell, we've (DU) said that McCain should watch his back. Palin has her eyes set for his job. Loyal Republicans wouldn't want that to happen. They may bite their tongue publicly, but I don't doubt for a minute they are starting to give this dangerous and extreme opportunist and her hubby the 'cold shoulder'.

The thing is what are they going to do about it? Wonder what regrets McCain has, if any. Wonder if Palin will last.

I guess Gov. Palin is there but maybe there's just no There there, and the media are done spinning her into a "Renaissance woman."

49. On a national stage she's no longer in complete control.
As Queen of Wasilla and Ruler of Alaska, she and The First Dude kept everyone in line. Things are much different down here in the lower 48.

She's way out of her league. I'm looking forward to a complete meltdown with the cameras rolling. Ditto for sidekick.

52. Ya think?
I was the victim of too many of those 9th grade harpies, and 10th, and 11th, and 12th. . . . and, oh yeah, another one a couple of weeks ago (and I'm pushin' 60!)

Vindictiveness, and the jealousy and deep-seated insecurity that spawn it, is the most dangerous emotion there is.

55. Yep. Palin belongs to some kind of apocalyptic church after having been
Edited on Tue Sep-16-08 07:43 AM by Old Crusoe
raised Catholic.

It's almost as if she had the run of the place up in Alaska and now lacks the ability to do much of anything down here in the lower 48.

I think the McCain camp got hoodwinked on this pick, or they hoodwinked themselves, or they were sold a bill of goods by the Right Wing power brokers. Not sure what went down, but it ain't workin'.

67. How would you feel if you were forced to say that stupid "Thanks but No Thanks" every single day??
And even the right-wing nut jobs on the news know it's a complete lie.

You want the winning quote that Biden should say at the debate? When Biden comments on the McCain/Palin economic plan he should end his statement with "Thanks but No Thanks"

70. It's the SNL skit - she doesn't look like the type of person
who can take criticism and have people laugh at her. Who knows? Maybe she was bullied in junior high and high school. She puts up this supposed tough exterior (pitbull) when all the while she's insecure.

72. The spotlight has revealed her as the corrupt, arrogant, prissy
politician that she is. Alaska needs to Impeach her, ASAP. Now they know how she has hoodwinked them.

74. Ha ha ha!!!
And if she melts publicly, SNL is gonna be all over that, too.

Palin is a small fish that jumped into a big pond before she realized that she'd only been invited into the big pound to be used.

She probably thought McShame truly wanted her for her political prowess...when all he really wanted her for was her vagina.

Waiting for the melting, and may be it public indeed!
