I voted for Obama in memory of my dear mother who was born south of Joplin. I still have 2nd cousins who live down there on the beautiful old homesteads with a zillion cattle. I wonder if they are democrats. All of us are. I never thought to ask them when I visited. My uncle moved back there after he retired and built a wonderful two story long cabin that he left to my brother and me but I never get down that way so left the keys for the rest of the family to enjoy. I repeat, if you are ever driving through southern Missouri and have to go through Joplin, DO NOT STOP. If you have to pee, pull over on the side of the road. Have plenty of snacks so you don't have to stop for them in Joplin. After you spend any time in that part of the state, you need numerous hot showers to wash off what you pick up there. Trust me, I know.
