Disclaimers: I loathe Scarborough and have never seen his morning show; used to catch his evening show occasionally if it came on while we were eating dinner. I've never seen this Mika woman before in my life. I did not watch the Palin/Gibson interview.


:30 -- McCain's teeth are clenched. He looks combative, defensive.

:45 -- Voice is heavily controlled, head held stiffly (perhaps to disguise sagging skin, other signs of age, or maybe just to avoid studio lights?)

1:05 -- "Americans are hurting very badly" followed by a weak smile. Comes across as completely insincere.

1:10 -- Scarborough asks serious question about "fundamentals are strong" and McCain chuckles. Mika also has serious expression.


1:35 -- Scarborough asks "other than the workers" but McCain goes back to the workers as the "fundamental."

1:45 -- "It's clear from my remarks. . . . that Wall Street has betrayed us." (One's remarks on a subject should not be considered evidence of fact. I can say the sky is pink over and over, but that doesn't mean a thing.)

1:51 -- the social contract between capitalism and the worker???????????????? ARE YOU SHITTING ME, YOU ASSHOLE??????

2:06 -- Stammers when talking about CEOs etc. taking home hundreds of millions, has difficulty with "greed" and "corruption."

2:28 -- "And as President I guarantee you it'll never happen again," and then chuckles.

2:50 -- Scarborough asks question relating to regulation vs competitiveness. McCain blinks and pauses for about three full seconds before launching into a critique of regulation as outdated "designed for the 1930s" when in fact MUCH of that regulatory system has been dismantled over the past 70 years.

3:21 -- "People were asleep at the switch." No, Johnny, the switch had been removed.


3:32 -- Addresses bank deposits and FDIC

3:50 -- "Influence" of Fannie & Freddie. That "influence" is of course exercised through lobbyists. I'm waiting to see what his next comment is and whether it addresses the "I never met lobbyist I didn't like" issue.

3:57 -- Ah, the "old boy network." Excuse me, old boy, but which "old boys" would be in that network? Huh? Huh? :crickets:

4:00 -- "We didn't act with sufficient oversight." Is that an admission of guilt?

4:24 -- Response to Mika's question on the "fairness" of the Obama ad: "It's not up to me..." If not McCain, his surrogates have been harping on the unfairness, the sexism of the Obama campaign and the media since Day One of the Palin nomination. Disingenous at best. Snide and hypocrital certainly.


5:53 -- Appears to evade Mika's question regarding possible lies in his campaign ads, then switches topic to "American workers are hurting."

6:08 -- "I know how to fix this economy; I've had great experience on economic issues." WAIT A FUCKING MINUTE? Isn't this the guy who said he didn't know squat about economics?
