Well I have great news. Bleeding Heart Bakery is donating $2 to Obama for every cupcake you buy.

No, I don't work for Bleeding Heart, I just love their bakery and wanted to spread the word as soon as I found out. :)

By the way, the bakery is all organic, with tons of vegan options. My friend just brought me the most delicious cupcake with a cute little Obama flag in it. She made my day.

7. It's just a bit south of my house. I may have to "accidentally" drive past my
house on the way home from work tonight. Of course, it's probably not the best thing to be eating cupcakes while I watch the premier of Biggest Loser tonight. :) It is for a good cause though.

3. Well I hate you right back for living in Cali.
:) That's where I've wanted to move since I was 22 (16 years ago). It gets especially hard this time of year, when I know the LOOOOOOOOOOONG winter is approaching.

:hi:

9. I know for sure I have SAD, it makes me depressed just to think about winter.
Even though I love autumn, I spend the whole time dreading what lies ahead. Believe me, I'd love to take the leap, but I have a husband who loves his job, and the job itself is incredibly stable. With the economy in the pooper, it's hard for me to force him to look for a new job that may not be as stable (low guy on the totem pole and all that). He's also diabetic and worries about losing benefits or getting lesser benefits at a new job. I can't blame him, but it still makes me ache to think of spending another winter here.

12. I hear ya, luckily so does Obama, reasons I made the leaps to here were rustbelt driven

Born raised Cleveland Ohio, jobs died and went away in my field, Cleveland has died more economic deaths in the last 30 years than most cities its size. We visited San francisco in 1993 and said maybe some day

In 2003 I followed opportunity to Chicago where I was lucky enough to see a damn good guy run against a nut case radio guy (Obama vs Keyes) and watched tv with everyone else that night of the Dem convention 2004 and said hey honey you know that guy we met and thought was pretty cool, hes gonna be president some day.

Followed another job opportunity to the Bay Area in 2005 and found out this is who we really were, complete weirdos in the midwest, the normal ones out here and that huge depression cycle my wife had had more to do with the 90 days of sunlight she might get there than the many more here, than we ever knew.

Donated to a campaign for the first time in my life last year, volunteered for a campaign for the first time 9 months ago, and you know what that cool guy my wife and I met who we thought was cool and I thought was going to run for his first time in 2012 is going to be our president elect in about 50 some days from now and I hope he can help those we left behind, who need it most back in the midwest, to make the heart of it all beat again.

So yeah Ive been on a kinda of crazy ride with Obama and California being my future before I knew it, but here I am and here we go.

13. That was awesome. That should be its own thread.
Yeah, that race between Obama and Keyes was the only bright spot on a very dismal night in 2004. Hopefully Obama will have the same success in November.

I know exactly what you mean about being a weirdo in Chicago and feeling at home in the Bay Area. We travel out there quite often (both of us have family and friends out there) and I've felt the same way for years. Although, I will admit that Chicago has caught up with me a bit in the last few years, which makes it a bit easier to bear. It's definitely a much weirder (in a good way) and cooler place than it was when I moved into the city after college in 1992. In fact, if I could somehow magically relocate the city of Chicago to the west coast, I probably would. I do love Chicago, I just hate the weather and I hate the geography (flat, flat, flat and more flat, with no mountains or oceans or redwoods).

10. Oh no! I hope they bail out your school soon (unless you're enjoying the time
off, that is). Until then, let's virtually toast Obama with cupcakes. :)

15. Holy cow. That sucks. A coworker of mine lives on the other side of the Desplaines River
from our office. It took her almost three hours to get to work yesterday and two hours to get home. Touhy was the only east-west road for miles in where you could cross, and traffic on Touhy sucks under the best conditions. Kudos to her for coming in at all. I think I would've called in.

5. Skip the vegan cupcakes, get the real ones
Vegan cupcakes are just wrong. Yes, I have tried theirs. Skip them, they are nasty. Or they are as good as you can make vegan cupcakes, but those things are just intrinsically bad.

8. I'm not vegan but I think they are darn good. But for those who prefer, the
regular cupcakes are delish as well. I won't say no to any of them.

22. My friend who bought me the cupcake (which I inhaled in about 30 seconds) is having
her wedding cake (well, actually, wedding CUPcakes) made by them. She says they are great people. And their cupcakes ROCK. Mine was chocolate with some kind of fudgy frosting. YUM!
