Could this be a Powerful new ad for Dems & Obama on the economy?
Considering the Wall Street economic meltdown/crisis, and seeing the threads here referring to the attempt to privatize Social Security, I had an idea for an ad.

Here's the gist: Democrats fought the Republicans for years to prevent SS privatization, and aren't you glad they did, because Grandma's Social Security is still safe? Thanks to the Dems.

Remember when the Democrats FOUGHT in Congress to protect your Social Security?

Remember when the Democrats battled to STOP George Bush and the Republicans from privatizing Social Security?

It was a bitter struggle with John McCain voting in lockstep with George Bush and the Republican majority. Fortunately, the Democrats prevented the Republican plan of moving your Social Security toward individual accounts and into the markets (a gift to Wall Street and special interests?).

Do you really trust Wall Street to protect your Social Security?

When it comes to the Economy, the Democrats are BETTER.

They know how to create jobs, stimulate small business growth, restore the economy, and move American families and the nation safely and prosperously into the future.

They've done it before. (Clinton era, New Deal)

You can trust the Democrats to act wisely and fight hard to protect America's financial future and your Social Security.

Vote for Barack Obama for President!

Vote Democratic!

OK. I've never done this before. It's probably too wordy, not direct or decisive enough, but I'm trying to give you the idea. If it's a good idea, the experts can polish and perfect it.

The idea: this is the perfect opportunity to draw the contrast between how The Dems were WISE and acted RESPONSIBLY, and FOUGHT vigorously to protect SS. The Dems can be TRUSTED.

If they had not, people's financial security could well be at risk, invested in one or more of these great financial institutions (currently in crisis).

1. Very Good
Might be a little long for a 30 second ad, but they certainly need to do something along these lines!

2. Yeah, I didn't time it out...
I'm certain there must be better, more concise wording.

Thanks for your comment, and welcome to DU! :hi:
