As he looks over the landscape this morning, John McCain is regretting not picking Mitt Romney

A. He has the same conservative "bonafides" as Palin

B. He has the ability to get out on the stump ON HIS OWN, without being scripted

C. He has enormous experience in economic matters, even if his philosophy is completely wrong

D. He has a "presidential look"... like he came out of central casting for the part

McCain could've had Romney out there on all the morning shows talking about the economy on black Monday. Even though we would know Romney was wrong, the LIVs would be comforted by having Romney "on the case".

The Palin pick is shrinking before our eyes. Romney wouldn't have gotten the big crowds on the stump... but he would've been invaluable to McCain the past two days.

1. Romney understands policy and respects government and isn't a right wing crank.
He'd never make it!

2. F: Romney isn't involved in Troopergate..
Which appears to be imploding before our eyes. "I refuse to be investigated because Obama is behind this even though this investigation started before I was even the VP"... that isn't sounding very convincing to many independents, even some Republicans would prefer to avoid another VP who oozes scandal.

5. I watched a quick Romney interview after the GOP convention. He looked very dissaopinted and mad.
Asked what he thought about Palin as the pick he said, "Palin is a good choice because she believes in the bible and she likes to hunt and fish." saying this in a very snob way..

You could tell he wanted tell yell out, "She's a gimmick I should have been picked."

I kinda felt bad for the guy. He tried so hard to get the VP slot..

6. I doubt it. Yes doubts many people about Palin, but the GOP base loves her much more than they
would have accepted Romney. The whole selection was about the base--not Hillary voters.
