The Republicans Are Playing Edward Lewis From "Pretty Woman"
Remember Richard Gere's character in Pretty Woman? A ambitious, money grubbing, entrepreneur who likes to buy up companies and then break them up and sell them off? Well fast forward to today 2008. The Republicans ARE Edward Lewis. They have gotten into power, bought up America and have managed to break up the business stability of our country, and sell it off to the highest bidder. The Republicans have managed to deregulate the banking industry and now those businesses are going under. All the while those responsible are getting golden parachutes and making a ton of money.Edward meets Julia Roberts character and tells her,"You and I are such similar creatures Vivian. We both screw people for money." Sadly he has no remorse for having done so. That is until the end of the movie. Like Edward, the Republicans show no remorse for having liquidated our financial institutions. Until that is our country has started to crumble. This is one plot I don't want to see played out.But like the head of one of the failed companies, all I can do is sit back and watch it unfold. Life imitating art?
And how!

1. They remind me more of Edward's lawyer
His lawyer never had any remorse. Edward started on his path because of a father that abandoned him. He was always looking for fulfillment and didn't find it until her met Vivian.

2. And, like Lewis, they all need to get away from their greed
and catty country club bullshit, get laid and relax for a bit, preferably with Julia Roberts.

then they can invest in US based companies and provide decent jobs for thousands... "building ships... great big ships" (Old Man Morris quote)
