My friends
For those of you irritated by McCain's tired intro line, I am posting some links so you can see it for what it is: more theft. Just as McCain now wants to lift "change" and make it part of his slogan, he lifted "my friends" from another liberal who would want no part of his campaign -- Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

In the depths of the Depression, FDR began his fireside chats with a booming "my friends", coming into the homes of average Americans so he could lay out the problem, tell you what he was going to do about it, and ask for your help in getting it done. Here is a clip of him explaining the banking crisis: http://youtube.com/watch?v=kFvrL_nqx2c&feature=related

Here he is speaking about the progress of recovery and people being put back to work: http://youtube.com/watch?v=PXY7TkrPPzI

The next time you hear McCain start off with "my friends", just remember that he would very much like to be a successful President. The only thing stopping him is that he is a conservative and a Republican.

1. John McCain just wants to be president
I don't think he much cares whether he's a success at it or not. It looks to me like we're dealing with another guy with daddy issues.

2. Running on both "experience" and "change."
No wonder his campaign keeps effing up.
