argument. Her record demonstrates that she is INCOMPETENT! For God's sake, George Bush had more executive experience then all of them when he took office and we all know how that turned out. Anyone that would have actually looked at his record would have seen that the competent executive image the Rove team created was all smoke and mirrors. The guy was an incompetent idiot. Now we're all paying the price. The repeal of Glass-Steagall made the current mess possible BUT it would not have happened without the good at selling a phony image to the American Public, suck at governing Republicans.

Palin hired unqualified cronies for high paying government jobs.
Palin was too busy out disrupting abortion clinics to meet with the mayors of Alaska (who complained loudly about her failure to meet with them to take care of state business).
Palin used her position of power to settle personal scores.
Palin has governed under the principal that you're either with me or against me.
Palin screwed up the one big land deal she handled as mayor.
Palin, the self-proclaimed reformer, was a pork queen.
Palin, left her town of a few thousand millions of dollars in debt.
Palin lies repeatedly. If you had a great record to run on and were what you represented yourself to be, would you need to constantly lie? And what kind of reformer is a serial liar? Would you hire a serial liar?
Palin is NO energy expert. Her touted pipeline deal is a joke and a BAD DEAL for the American taxpayers.
Palin's touted accomplishments do not hold up to scrutiny.

Someone should make a laundry list of why her experience demonstrates that she unqualified to be a VERY CLOSE heartbeat away from the presidency.

Obama has proven himself to be intellectually up to the very difficult task of running this country. Mr. 5th from the bottom of his class (of almost 900) and Ms. 6 colleges in five years do NOT have the mental capacity to run this country. We've went the stupid route and it's screwed this country big time.

Bush has been President for 8 years, and using this experience logic he would be the best person qualified to serve 4 more years but heck, the man isn't even QUALIFIED to flip hamburgers at the local steak and fries.

JUST TELL THE TRUTH AND THEY WILL BE DEFEATED. You need to expose her as an incompetent idiot, truly another Bush.

3. Oh please. They constantly say she has
more experience then Obama and the Democrat (for example, Begala will shut up).

She is a VERY CLOSE heart beat away from the presidency and is incompetent but SHHHHHH we can't say anything b/c they will say Obama has less experience. That is without a doubt ONE of the DUMBEST arguments I have ever heard and the fact that they can't come up with a reply is STUNNING! And when we shut up, it makes us appear that we concede the argument (she is more qualified than Obama).

That is DUMB, DUMB, DUMB, when you concede your Presidential candidate is LESS qualified than their VP candidate.

I won't bother with the Palin crap, but I never, EVER conceded she's more qualified than Obama. Never. Not in this thread. Never. ANYWHERE. So why did you make that up and then wring your knickers over it? Oh yeah, to keep the Palin/Obama comparison alive.

How much do you get paid for doing this? Can't be much and you're not very good at it anyway.

Obama can't attack Palin for her experience because his lack of experience and they'll phrase it in such a way to infer she is more qualified. And I'm sick and tired of Begala and gang NOT having an adequate reply.

If you look at her actual TRACK record it shows that she is incompetent. I'd say sure she has experience and what does that experience tell us about her.

There is definitely some people who post here that get paid but I can assure you I'm not one of them. And I can assure you that attacking my ability or postings will NOT stop me from speaking my mind.

33. Bush Doctrine.
No need to say more. Being governor of low population state, and driving a small town into millions of dollars of debt doesn't demonstrate skill at governance, or intellectual capacity. It simply shows a skill at winning elections.
Failure at a job that one holds, is really not a qualification for a promotion to a more difficult job in the same field. A point that Bush illustrates all too well.

If Obama would have picked Palin, she would be like an anchor around his neck. The Republicans would be running ads 24/7 criticizing the first demonstration of his lack of leadership.

Plus, who knows if the 527s will expose her. All we hear is that we should ignore her. And Clinton was SILENT on her being competent to be a very close heart beat away. That was a real big help.

15. The argument that Executive experience is more weighty than
Senatorial experience is a debate, not a fact. Barack Obama describes himself as having spent 20 years in public service. What exactly was Sarah Palin doing those last 20 years, besides competing in beauty pageants and angling for a sports anchor job with the media?

To say that she was mayor of a small town is not that impressive when one looks at the population of that town at that time (6,000) and factors in the town had an administrator to do most of the work. Following that stint, she has served as Governor of the State of Alaska for not quite two years. She has no legislative experience, no judicial exposure, and has no comparable experience or knowledge that competes with Barack Obama's knowledge of the Constitution. Having been a professor of Constitutional law would seem to be a much more needed commodity at this time, when our Constitution has been shredded by eight years of Bush*.

What exactly are Palin's accomplishments that she frequently brags about -- what precisely has she done? Barack Obama served two terms in the Illinois State legislature, in addition to having served 3 years in the U.S. Senate.

While George W. Bush* did run on his experience as a two-term governor of Texas, the fact of the matter Texas is not run by its governor, it is run by its lieutenant governor, due to the irregularity of the time its legislature is in session. The Governor's position is mainly a PR stint. Bush* also ran on his educational degree, saying he would run the U.S. Government like a business. We see how that worked out. And now the Republicans offer up as a vice presidential candidate a person who isn't even as qualified as Bush* (God help us) and is totally ignorant on foreign affairs.

Defenders of this candidate say it is okay that she has no first-hand knowledge about economic affairs, as well as foreign affairs, because she will be surrounded by first-rate advisers who will tell her everything she needs to know. Sound familiar? It should, because that is what the Republicans said about Bush* in 2000. The truth of the matter is we not electing "advisers" -- we cast a vote for person or persons who has the overall resume to think independently and intelligently. Should that person or persons listen to others -- of course. But someone has to referee the disagreements among them, and it is important that elected official have the tools personally to do that. Palin has no such equipment.

Her sardonic slaps at respectable opponents are bad form which is extremely unattractive in a potential leader of the free world. Her demeanor, both public and private, is both embarrassing and appalling. We need a leader we can be proud of who is intelligent enough to cope with our very difficult problems at this time. That alone rules her out. Her candidacy is a joke, but not a very funny one.

She does seem to be quite experienced at prevarication, stooping to authorize the barbaric killing of animals from planes, indulging in extremely right-wing religious practices, as well as patronizing extremely bizarre theological views, but she does wave nicely to the small crowds she attracts, almost Miss America-like. Any woman who condones the cultural view a woman cannot lead a man should under no circumstances compete for a position that places her a heartbeat away from the Presidency. She would be much more suitable walking the beauty pageant run-way than serving as a "Commander-in-Chief."

29. Great post.
I just wish someone would say, okay she has experience, but I think if anyone takes a hard look at her record they will see she is not up to the job of being a VERY CLOSE heartbeat away from the Presidency (and rattle of a couple of the facts, she left her town of a few thousands over 20 million in debt, she solicited pork for outrageous projects, she filled high paying government jobs with unqualified friends (we don't need any more heck of a job Brownie people in DC), she says she fired her chef but she kept her and just reclassified her salary on the budget, she received per diem while at home, ....).

They don't go into detail but make some hard hitting assertions that can be backed up with fact. Heck the Republicans constantly make false assertions that aren't backed up with fact but they say them with such force and so repeatedly people come to believe them.

18. I have stated before, it's the Cliff Clavin argument
If you remember an old Cheers episode, Cliff Clavin was on jeopardy. His final jeopardy answer was "Who are three people who have never been in my kitchen". Technically correct, but intellectually dishonest. This is what you tell people. Yes, in the same regard that the president of the local Pawn Shop has more executive experience than McCain, still trying to compare a man who taught constiutional law at the top law school in the world with a small town mayor and journalism major is just intelectually dishonest. Much like Cliff Clavin. If you feel the need to lie to yourself, go ahead, but if you cannot trust yourself, who can you trust.

23. Experience is a weak argument
fitness, temperament, vision, competence, knowledge, and policies are where it's at.

Experience is an excuse and if mattered so cotton picking much then McCain would have an agenda to run on, have some ideas, and he might actually be the one ahead of the curve on dealing with the big issues facing the country.

The argument is Obama is right and proves right on the crucial problems and McCain despite his tenure, hasn't the slightest clue.

Palin???? Palin didn't know jack about IRAQ!!!!! Come on now!
Palin doesn't understand even what Freddie Mac and Fannie May do. Seriously!
Doesn't know about the foreign policy that she is such a stalwart supporter of.

All you have to say is no one that can say they've not thought about Iraq isn't qualified for national office (and the people in Alaska should reconsider, but that's up to them).

24. Here you go...
* If you spend 3 years as a community organizer, become the first black
President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that
registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor,
spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000
people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services
committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13
million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs,
Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have
any real leadership experience.

* If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6
years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the
governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become
the country's second highest ranking executive.

No executive experience.

DC experience is better for the Presidency. You don't have to have been an executive - then any mayor would be more qualified than McSame is.

You need intelligence and good judgment and to have made good use of your experience and have learned from it. If the right really cared about experience, they'd vote for Biden. He's been in the Senate longer than McSame. Once again, it is right wing bull crap.

Senator Obama has sponsored or co-sponsored 570 bills in the 109th and 110th Congress.
Senator Obama has sponsored or co-sponsored 15 bills that have become LAW since he joined the Senate in 2005.
Senator Obama has also introduced amendments to 50 bills, of which 16 were adopted by the Senate.
His record is in fact quite impressive for a junior Senator from Illinois.
Most of his legislative effort has been in the areas of:
Energy Efficiency and Climate Change (25 bills)
Health care (21 bills) and public health (20 bills)
 Consumer protection/labor (14 bills)
The needs of Veterans and the Armed Forces (13 bills)
Congressional Ethics and Accountability (12 bills)
 Foreign Policy (10 bills)
 Voting and Elections (9 bills)
 Education (7 bills)
 Hurricane Katrina Relief (6)
 The Environment (5 bills)
 Homeland Security (4 bills)

...and place it face up on a table.

You are looking at a man who had a long record of service in the Illinois state legislature, but only one term in the Federal Congress. Lawyer, not a businessman -- his only foray into business was a failure. No executive service, either -- not even as a small-town mayor.

The President on your penny, on your five-dollar bill, was 'unqualified' for the office.
