Tweety seemed a bit disappointed in Obama today. He showed |
|
part of Obama's speech and he kept asking Bill Richardson were were the emotion. He said why wasn't Barack angry about the economy. He said something to the effect that he could not understand it. Bill Richardson tried to stick up for Obama and said that he is emotional about it.

I think it's about that tight rope Obama has to walk. Especially because they take one line of Obama's and play it on a loop.

the Repubs are just waiting to play the "angry, black man" card? It should be obvious to anyone why he isn't getting angry about it. I think Obama is striking the right tone and being forceful, yet calm at the same time.

Tweety's an emotional guy which is fine. Obama is a leader, an adult and a president (oh please let that be true!) That is what he projects, that is what he is.

Humphrey lost so maybe it's not a good idea to get too passionate. Remember Dean and what the media did to him. It's a weird world today.

11. Did he listen to the entire speech? |
|
Obama was laying out his economic plan in as great a detail as I've ever seen from a candidate. He had a lot to say and didn't have room for emotion until the end of the speech. There's time for emotion, and time to give it to the people straight up, which is what Obama did today.

13. Malcom X or Dr. King? |
|
Obama has to be VERY careful in showing emotion. It sucks but this is one rascist country. Probably the most rascist in the world with the ending of S. Africa's apartheid.
If he shows the emotion that Al Gore has shown since he lost his campaign or even a touch of the angry populist John Edwards rhetoric, he will turn off already timid white voters, especially in "middle America". Not very many people are going to vote for an "emotional" (angry) black man. It is enough for me to believe he is angry and is willing to put it aside and keep his eyes on the prize.

15. The minute he shows the amount of passion that Gore has shown in speeches, as well as |
|
how MSM played up Dean's "scream", which Dean and Gore have been criticized for, they will call Obama angry. Code for an angry black man. This is a very fine line that Obama has to walk.

Obama spent most of his speech talking about the economy and ridiculing McCain's statements and positions on the economy. He pretty much tore McCain a new one today.
Bombast and temper tantrums aren't Obama's style. Obama's always cool and collected. Cool under pressure. I consider this to be a feature, not a bug.

20. Obama - Don't Do It! Don't Lose The Edge On Temperment! |
|
The last thing we need is for Obama to lose the edge on the temperment argument and lose his cool. You know that the moment Obama seems the slightest bit angry, Hannity will devote an entire show to Obama, the Angry Black man. McCain is the one who loses his temper in stressful situations, not Obama.

and whether it's "true" or not, I think it's worthy of some attention.
Communication is at least as much about the person being communicated with - if the message isn't getting through to enough people, it's not working...
I'm torn. He doesn't read as dispassionate to me at all. But I do keep hearing that from other people, whether I agree or not.
