do you guys think the dems have given up on florida? not that i'd blame them...
with the obvious voter fraud last month.

reason i'm asking is because i have to
listen to a crummy easy listening station
all day long at my work, and heard mccain's
"pro stem cell" commercial twice an hour the
whole time. didn't hear anything from
obama.

maybe they've decided not to waste their
resources here. might be a better
strategy, actually...

1. Don't count Florida out for Obama Biden just
'cause of your experience.

4. oh, i'm not counting him out anywhere
i don't watch much tv so i don't know about
the tv ads, but the radio is all mccain all
the time. between that, the missing
ballots in our election and the caging postcard
i got for "absentee ballots" from the thugs,
i'm wondering if the dems accept that the fix
is in and will concentrate on greener pastures.

nobody will be happier than me if it goes well
here, that's for sure! it'd be nice to feel
like your vote was counted.

3.  We have Obama commercials here all the time- Florida is very much in play.
We have a huge team on the ground here- all though the state in fact. But here in Dade county things are going quite well- phone banking, voter registration, etc. Tons of energy, great volunteers- not sure where you are but this state is no way lost to Mclame.

As for the radio, if you don't have access to a progressive station, you might want to switch to NPR- anything's better then the right wing talk radio and at least NPR attempts to be balanced.

Obama is coming to Miami this weekend- Coral Gables to be exact and I assume he's making his way around the state. We can win here but only with a landslide- so we all need to be out there working and phone banking and registering people.

14. Log on to mybarackobama.com, do a search in your area and you'll see the events.
There's lots going on- and lots of work to do- and lots of different ways to jump in. It's not going to be easy but remember- Gore won Florida in 2000 and I believe Kerry won 2004 too- but we have rigged machines (not just here but in many states). So, we need a landslide. Big time so there's no question and no need for a recount.

5. Given up: no. Pragmatic: yes.
We'll prioritize Florida, evaluating week to week and day to day movement in the numbers. How close it is will dictate the level of effort there, I think.

Then, there's the unknowable: how many shenanigans will the Republicans pull, as in "voting irregularities", missing ballots, etc.

13. it's too bad there are so many electoral college votes here
and the infrastructure is so tainted. i'm
afraid the fix is with these voting machines,
but maybe we can overwhelm their fixes if we
work hard enough.

that would be a real accomplishment, i think!

8. No way. There are a certain group of states which are MUST WIN.
And then there are states where a good ground campaign is in place where it would be NICE to win. Time will tell which category FL is in, but it's not like all the ground work is going to be folded up if it's in category #2.

9. NE Florida
Well, we seem to have more McCain ads here then Obama and the newspapers are really biased, but I'm not surprised. We continue to work as volunteers to bring the truth to those who will listen. I'm excited about Obama's visit in JAX on Saturday and hope we have a huge crowd.

11. 46 field offices?
No. It doesn't sound like they've given up on Florida at all. Maybe Floridians need to get down to the field office to see what's going on.

12. Here's the deal with ads and the Obama campaign.
1) Ads make the most impact very close to the election. If you exhaust people on ads, they tune them out.

2) As Plouffe noted in an interview, ads can move the final vote 1 to 2% points. A great ground game can move the numbers 3 to 5%.

Obama is investing in the ground game and I suspect saving his avalanche of ads for the last few weeks of the campaign.

20. Reports show Obama spending $ 7 million on media
and this is the first report of McCain spending money.

It must be getting closer for McCain to spend his money.
