Lets Be Honest - MSM Will Go Back To Carrying McCain's Water Soon - Are We Ready?
I was watching the cable news programs who were crediting the Obama campaign with jumping on McCain's recent gaffes on the economy and pointing out that McCain is out of touch, and poorly suited to impose needed regulations on the financial industry given his record of support for deregulation. However, lets be honest, nothing really changed. The Obama campaign has been hammering McCain on the ecnonomy for months. However, the MSM simply ignored real issues. Instead, the MSM blindly followed the talking points fed by the GOP.

The only think that had changed is that the failure Lehman Brothers coupled with the 500 point drop in the DOW forced the MSM to switch off of covering bullshit. Also, McCain's campaign had grown too cocky in simply spreading lies and BS such that it was starting to make it very obvious that Big Media is nothing more than shills for the McCain campaign. We celebrate the ads recently generated by the Obama campaign about McCain's "fundamentals of the economy are strong," but Obama has run similar ads in the past.

The only difference is that the MSM was suddenly forced to pay attention. Rachel Maddow noted that Obama was calling for increased regulation of financial markets back in March of this year. McCain suddenly reversed a 26 year stand against regulation in the past 24 hours by calling for regulation. Yet, only now, the MSM pays attention?

The fact of the matter is that the McCain campaign is actually poorly run and squandering its tremendous advantage in media control, because they are too freakin arrogant. First, they say that issues don't matter. Second, they demand "respect" and "deference" for Sarah Palin. Third, they make no effort to correct proven lies in the standard stump speeches. In other words, the McCain campaign is almost forcing the MSM to cover them more closely, because the McCain campaign has just been too obvious and arrogant about its lies such that the MSM had to act in self-preservation to avoid being too obvious that they were in the tank for McCain.

However, lets not fool ourselves. Within the next fews days, something trivial will occur, like Obama wiping his nose while answer a question about Sarah Palin, the McCain campaign will release a talking about how sexist it was for Obama to pick a booger while responding to a question about Palin, and we will once again be in the MSM never never land where campaign issues bear no resemblance to real world issues.

The change is not due to a shift in media strategy, nor is there any hope of some magical media strategy that will overcome the structural bias in the media. This is why we will need to continue to contribute, volunteer, and work our asses of to win.

No Democratic Presidential Candidates has won a majority of the popular vote since 1976! There is a sizable segment of the population that no longer thinks. They just vote Republican. The country can be going to hell, and the GOP candidate can be just a talking point reciting little dweeb with no substance beyond an interesting biography, but this won't stop them from voting Republican. They are immune from reality. This is why this election, and any election, will be tremendously hard to win for a Democrat.

2. But Gore Only Received 48% Of Popular Vote
Carter was the last Democrat to get a majority of the popular vote at 50.1 percent.
