Is Sean Penn warning feasible? |
|
Given that the nation is polarized into two camps that seemingly have nothing but revulsion for the other, what will happen if John McCain and Sarah Palin win the election? As Sean Penn remarked could the country actually be thrown in a violent revolution as unemployment deepens, savings wiped out and the middle class destroyed? Reflecting on the depression era of the 1930s, the nations working class came close to endorsing outright anarchy as their frustrations reached the boiling point. What would have been the path that our nation would have taken if Franklin Roosevelt had not been elected and he had been unable to calm the fears and restore hope among the working class in a time of acute despair? Are there not parallels to the situation that existed during the 1930s and today? Wealth was concentrated in fewer into the hands of those who had little or no compassion for the staving masses who toiled 60 hours or more a week if they were lucky to even have a job. It was Roosevelt’s policies that created the middle class giving American workers a decent wage, outlawing child labor, making home ownership and the opportunity for higher education a reality instead of being exploited by the wealthy who conspired to deny them the opportunities they thought were solely the right of the privileged wealthy. The reality of today’s situation is that the Republican Party has one goal; the destruction of the middle class. What is the most depressing aspect of the situation is that working class Republicans are actually supporting their own destruction.

3. Yes. Just below the surface, rage is building..... |
|
It is no accident that Blackwater can put 150,000 "operatives" on the street in a week or less....
They will protect the ruling class and enforce their will without that messy Bill of Rights or Constitution getting in the way.
I'd Love to have a hundred thousand heavily armed people expert in urban warfare....

4. Yes. And my grandmother predicted all of this when Bush was elected |
|
"Mark my words, he'll be worse than Hoover and all that let up to him".
Sadly, she can no longer remember telling me this, but she still throws things at the TV when Bush appears.
I don't think McCain can win under the present circumstances. So the bigger question is - can we even begin to undo what has happened?
