Get in touch with your committee people - they may need drivers & poll watchers |
|
Some here may already know this, but here's a heads up since time is getting short.
Get in touch with the committee person(s) for your ward/precinct because they may need a poll watcher, someone to keep track of which registered Democrats in that precinct haven't shown up to vote. Before the polls close they try to contact them, remind them, urge them to get in and vote, offer to pick them up and take them back home afterward. You can also just be available to help the poll watcher with the driving part.
If you're not sure who your committee people are, google your township or County name with the word Democrats and there should be a website with listings and phone numbers.

2. Hear, hear! I'm a town chair |
|
We need drivers, door knockers, sign planters, phone bankers, you name it.
And it is not just for the Presidential election, which here in NY probably won't be close. We have candidates at every level from the top down who should benefit from people turning out to vote for Obama.
It's not as glamorous as the national race, but there are Dems worthy of our support running for town, county, and state positions. They would welcome your support. People who only turn out for Presidential elections must be reminded that they should vote for every office on the ballot, not just the top row. And, you never know: the state senator or county legislator candidate that you support today could be running for Congress in two years. This is how we build the party. Obama is counting on us to play this ground game.
Our slogan this year is, "Vote A all the way!"

3. I discussed this with one of the long time volunteers at our Dem HQ's |
|
I asked her how successful are they in actually getting people there and she said VERY. It's actually pushed some local Dems over the finish line. This is how Smirk & Snarl kept it so close in the last to elections - the Repub GOTV. This stuff really does make all the difference! Now's the time to get those Committee person phone numbers and step up, plan ahead, don't assume they've got it covered. They can always use backups for volunteers who, for whatever reason, can't make it.
