a suggestion to help out on election day |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-17-08 12:23 PM by Robyn66
I was thinking it might be a good idea for groups of people to get together and form Voter Support groups for election day, who will be at the polls that are likely to have two and three hour lines to try and help people. For example, have water or food and lawn chairs for older people to use if they are waiting in line-anything to keep people from giving up and walking away and giving up on voting.
I was thinking of sending this to the Obama campaign but I am not sure where to send it so someone sees it.
So what do you guys think?

The damn touchscreen and pushbutton voting machines are no good, but worse yet in many areas there simply won't be enough of them. Lines will be long but EVERY vote will be precious for our side.
SO DO IT!!
BTW -- This was done to some extent in Ohio 2004 where some voters were in line for 12 hours. People made pizza runs, brought water, etc. to enable them to stay until they got to vote. Made a difference and many stayed the whole 12 hours even though Ken Blackwell did everything he could to make sure their votes were never counted or recounted.
