Dammit - you all warned me, but did I listen?! |
|
I started volunteering at the local Obama For Change offices. Said I was going to do it one day a week. Somehow now I am a volunteer coordinator working 5 days a week. It's true - the energy and the dedication is contagious! So many people willing to do whatever it takes to win this election.
If you haven't volunteered yet this election, I urge you to give it a shot. We only have a few weeks left for voter registration. If you can spare an hour or two you could make a huge difference.
Thanks!!

1. Ain't it grand? Working for the campaign really helps me deal with |
|
the msm, poll numbers and some of the dooms-day posts here on DU. It puts thing in perspective and keeps me positive. I have been highly recommending volunteering to anyone that has the time.
Thanks for all of your hard work. We are going to win!

6. I'm taking the training Saturday and going to Colorado! |
|
I live in Utah and it always seemed the only thing I could do is give money (I have, the max, both for the primary and the general election.) But I can go to Colorado. That could be the tipping state.
I do want to say, I am SO pissed at people saying to me, sending me emails, "gloom and doom, all is lost". I'm so pissed at this point I say: You can do three things: give money, volunteer, write a letter to the editor. Or, you can whine, bitch, moan and complain. When/if we lose this thing, I'll be able to say I did my part. You won't. Oh, and one more thing, I'll have a much better two months than you will because I'll be optimistically helping and you'll be crying.

14. they are sending buses from here every (I think) Friday for the weekend. |
|
not sure where they go but I'll holler if I get close.
I'd be willing to take a week off but I'm not sure I can be off on election day. Working on it. Otherwise it will just be weekends.

|
very, very much. We can use all the help we can get. Don't forget, lunch is on me if you get to Denver. It's a small thing that I can do to say thanks for your hard work.

19. Wish I had the energy (or the nerve) |
|
Or could pay gass to get into town... or had a car. Bah, I live out in the middle of no where with my parents. I'd like to help, but everything is so unorganized in my tiny little area that there's nothing to help. Just a bunch of really old people who gather every morning for coffee at the local general store/coffee place. I'd have to be mad to try talking them into anything, a youngster butting in on one of their conversations can get into serious trouble.
But I think they're all voting anyway... most of them for Obama.
Good work, good luck.

I just got a call tonight asking for my time, and without a thought, I agreed to 2 hours of work for Obama.
Of course, I am still pissed off at Obama for not supporting the impeachment of Bush, or his willingness to cave in on Telecomm Immunity, but I still think he's less likely to destroy my future like McCain.
Not to mention the great speech Biden gave ripping McCain to shreds. Even though Biden is a DLC stooge, I still like his message.

Cannot wait! Some of my best memories are from my volunteering days for the late Rep. Walter Capps in California.
