I think there is some really bad stuff in the Troopergate scandal that they don't want to be seen
They are going through massive efforts to cover this one up and keep the raw information (emails, phone calls, testimonies) from hitting the press. It would have been in their best interest to let this play out quietly and then blow it off. I doubt the Obama camp or the MSM would have made a big deal of it. However, Palin has went from "I have nothing to hide and will cooperate fully" to get extremely lawyered up and having the McCain camp pull every legalistic trick in the book.

The only conclusion I can draw is that they are hiding something very bad. I think this is also why they are hiding Palin from the press.

1. Im wondering about that too. I mean, it's bad if she did it, but they can always demonize Wooten
and she's get a slap on the wrist. There must be something else or they're just being stupid. Like someone on Countdown said yesterday, "which is worse, the cover-up or the crime?" Makes you wonder.

16. Sure they can, but so far there's nothing really besides his suspensions
rumors/innuendos, and three marriages. Further more the case is really between her and Monegan who is an Alaskan hero. And they can't demonize him or the state goes Blue.

3. Yeah, I think that is a definite and I hope this stonewalling and everything they are doing
to try and put it away stays on the frontburners of the media. The people can see through this and they know it which is why I think they have to put a lid on it.

4. IF there isn't, they're handling this really, really BAD! To exert that
much manpower & effort to hide something simply convinces people to believe the worst! I would have THOUGHT they would have learned that from all of Shrub's hiding...but I guess not.

6. Ed Schultz was saying that earlier.
He was wondering why she just didn't testify, and was briefly speculating on whether or not there wasn't something worse she was hiding. I mean, she is acting like a criminal.

10. I love that they are covering it up and stalling.
The legislative committee is stuffed with Republicans. If she co-operated and got it over with it the committee would at very most give her a slap on the hand with a, that's our Sarah isnt she great, and it would be over with.

Her stall makes it look like there is something more sinister than could probably be proven.

12. How much worse can it get?
They had a restraining order almost put on them. When the Judge over the divorce proceedings said that they need to leave Wooten alone and this would look like child abuse since the kids were affected by the rivalry.

They have more and more mounting evidence, from emails and phone calls about what went down--->thank gosh someone was on top of that. Secondly there are witnesses who can testify against them.

I mean what the hell is so deep down there, that can ruin her. Except that she probably slept with Wooten himself.

Let me bite my tongue...it might be true.

15. Sarah had quite a bit of sympathy going for her
in this investigation before McCain's goons showed up here in the state to twist things up. I'm so furious about this, I can hardly see straight.

23. I mean that it was pretty well known
that Trooper Wooten was not necessarily a good cop and a lot of people felt that the minor suspension that he got for his infractions was not enough. However, if I understand the facts correctly, Walt Monegan wasn't even the DPS commissioner when the suspension took place, and Monegan's only "sin" was telling Sarah that the matter had already been dealt with and that he wasn't going to reopen the matter.

In any event, things would look much better for Sarah now if she had just been open about the situation, as she has promised all along until McCain got hold of her. If all the facts would have come out, I'm sure it would have been a minor bump -- she might have had to reinstate Monegan into his old position, but from all accounts he was doing a good job -- he's had years and years of experience both with the Anchorage police and the troopers. The stonewalling on this looks really, really bad.

At least I know that's the case where I live.

24. Alaskans HATE Outside interference.
I mean, almost pathologically hate it. McCain is doing Sarah Palin a huge disservice because when she comes back here to finish her term, there isn't one person in Alaska who will look at her the same ever again. I'm sure she'll still have her die-hard supporters, but the independents and Democrats who helped her when she was governor never will again. She made a huge mistake accepting this offer.

Impeachment of a VP nominee before the election wouldn't look to good, IMO.

19. McCain obviously is trying to stall the investigation until after the election
and maybe bury it forever. Maybe some bad "verbiage" was used by Palin or Governor Todd or maybe a series of felonies by one or more people. Probably some of both. If McCain can get the investigation into court, he probably can delay it for a few years.

There is enough evidence of her corruption right now. The Spotlight on her has back fired because it has illuminated her corrupt practices as Gov.

27. You've got that right.
She had pretty much a free ride up until now because she seemed so straightforward and up-front after four years of Frank Murkowski. We're very forgiving people, obviously. I mean, for God's sake, Ted Stevens and Don Young have been our senator and congressman for decades -- it's obvious people turn a blind eye. But it's impossible to ignore what's going on now with all the media spotlight and McCain's people stomping around all over the place.

This makes me livid -- and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

29. There seems to be a lot of really bad stuff everywhere one looks involving Palin.
It didn't take but a little bit of scratching at the ground to discover that practically everything she said in her RNC talk (which she repeats verbatim) was untrue or stretching the truth. She claims to be a fiscal conservative, but look at all the personal stuff (tanning bed, SUV, office remodeling, full-time city manager for a town of 5,000) she bought for herself on the taxpayer's dime. The Bridge to Nowhere lie. The ebay misrepresentation. She lies even about little things, things that don't matter.

My guess that her firing of Monegan is just the tip of the iceburg. The investigation itself has probably turned up a lot more falsehoods and illegal behavior, and the McCain camp is desperate to keep them hidden. They mishandle everything, anyway.

If there was nothing, she would go through with it, but the McCain camp must have read the "emails" and saw a legal problem there, possibly an impeachable problem.

They're going to take a massive beating on this. Every bad act of Dick Cheney that's been stonewalled and covered up is going to resonate. Biden will tear her a new one in the debates.

If it's bad enough to accept this kind of self-inflicted damage, then the truth must be pretty ugly.
