Does DUing polls help or hurt us? |
|
Before everyone jumps on the concern troll thing...I have been going to the polls mentioned. It just occurred to me that if we are sending people in large groups that we are skewing the results and the consequence could be that we get...overly confident? If we are DUing polls by state newspapers, for example, will the Obama campaign look at the numbers and decide to put in less resources there because things look so good or are these polls of no consequence in that regard? Is the opposite true? Maybe independents who come are likely to see the higher numbers for Obama and take another look?

1. I don't think that anyone putting resources into an obama campaign is |
|
counting on polls done by newspapers. They are notoriously unreliable and would be the last place Obama's people would go to to make big decision like allocation of resources.
Like you said, if the polls have obama winning really well it may make someone take another look at him and then end up voting for him.

3. Online polls are meaningless |

MEANINGLESS! They mean nothing. Nada. Nihil. The null set!
Which is why Zogby's polls are such a joke.

5. Internet polls are totally meaningless! |
|
There's no point in even WORRYING what some AOL poll, or CNN online poll, says! They are easily manipulatedf, do not represent a truly random sample, and persons wishing to manipulate the results may vote MULTIPLE times by the simple expedient of deleting cookies in their browser settings.

8. Only a small portion of DUers actually bother to DU polls. |
|
I don't think DUing polls is a productive way to spend time. Just my .02

Internet polls do very little, but it would certainly never hurt us.
