1. She's right!
We can see through transparent political gimmicry such as... ohhhhh... selecting a female VP candidate in order to woo discouraged Hillary supporters.

Or, how about... selecting a fundie-gelical VP candidate to woo the Republican base.

4. Bingo! I really believe that the reason
McCain said he wanted to wait to choose his VP until Obama had announced his selection is to see if he chose Hillary. If he didn't, then he wanted to blatantly pander to the "disaffected Hillary vote" by picking a woman. And a woman he had barely, if at all, vetted and had only spoken to once before. Unlike Obama, he had SIX freaking months to come up with someone, since he knew way back when he'd be the nominee. It is an indication of just how bad his judgment and "leadership skills" are that he'd wait like that in order to pander and that he'd choose someone so unqualified and ill-prepared, and put the country he keeps proclaiming he "puts first" so at risk because of it. Especially when, if he HAD to have a woman VP, there were so many other republican women who were much more knowledgeable, experienced, prepared and far better qualified that he could have chosen. But they weren't airhead beauty queens.

3. Who knew she was a big Mencken fan?
"No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public" - Mencken in the Smart Set; he's also been quoted as saying No one ever lost money underestimating the intelligence of the American public.
