Did McCain bomb/napalm/strafe Cambodia? |
|
according to Wm Shawcross Book, "Sideshow: Nixon, Kissinger and the destruction of Cambodia," many pilots of his era were ordered to write TWO flight plans -- one that showed them bombing generally accepted targets in No. Vietnam and another that reflected the REAL purpose of these flights --- the ones that destroyed targets in Cambodia, a neutral country. They often authorized bombing villages and towns that were occupied only by civilians, and they knew it. my question is.... Did John McCain take part in this horror story?

2. If he was following the orders of his country, it's none of our business. |
|
However, I doubt McCain could find Cambodia with a map and a plane, let alone find his own ass with both hands and a flashlight.

8. If he was committing WAR CRIMES, it most certainly is |
|
Sorry, but that excuse went out the window at Nuremburg. You can't simply say "I was just following orders" anymore.

3. When would he have had the time? |
|
I was under the impression that his time in Vietnam was spent in jail. Actually, I'm kind of under the impression that he was born in that jail and that John McCain actually didn't exist until he was born a POW.

4. He has always refused to say ANYTHING specific about his bombing missions |
|
So, who knows? It wouldn't surprise me.

McCain was shot down in Oct 1967. He was bombing/napalming and strafing North Vietnames on the orders of Lyndon Baines Johnson. Nixon's bombing of Cambodia did not start until Mar 1969.

9. Possibly, but I think that it would have been probably further South |

and probably against the NVA forces and supplies moving down the HCM trail. Also probably these targets would have been assigned to the Air Force as opposed to the Navy carriers operating in the Tonkin Gulf. If I remember correctly B52s out of Guam use to hit the HCM trail.
