1. Should you stop making Race a topic here at DU today? |
|
I vote yes.
Everyone knows that our ticket is 1/4 Black, including the Obama Campaign. I'm not sure who is pretending otherwise?

6. I think the issue should be confronted |
|
I think the left has been kowtowed into the right wing idea that confronting racism will cost Obama votes.

For the purposes of his campaign, he should not bringing it up.
Even though it's the only thing driving the McCain campaign.

9. I agree with the 'hooligan |

It is an issue, no question... but Obama needs to stick to the high road. The GOP would use any mention of this against him in a heartbeat.

I think it may have been something to get used to and consider in the primary but has now become a non-issue.
Sure, there will be some voters so filled with hate and prejudice that they can't bring themselves to vote for a person of color. HOWEVER, those who are voting on the issues are not paying attention to his skin color. They are looking at the insanity of continuing another 4 years of the same ol sh** vs a realistic and well-thought set of policies. They are looking at which candidate has a grip on the economy and other crises facing us and which one hasn't a clue on what to do.

11. Yes-it is disgusting and we know race is an issue for a lot of McCain voting creeps |

But this is not a winning strategy. Eye on the prize-we really need to win this election. We need to focus on the economy-it is what the Obama campaign needs to focus on. Beat McCain over the head with Gramm, sketch out the differences between his policies and McSame's etc.

12. Why would we ignore an element of the truth? |
|
Why should Democrats pretend anything at this point? We need to lay out the truth, fact by fact. Is race an issue? Hell yes!

race is only an issue with racists. Let the other side bring it up. They have the issues with race, gender, gender identity, etc.
