2 of my neighbors had their Obama signs stolen today.
I'm in a small town in southern IL near St. Louis.

I have 2 Obama signs on order, so I haven't had one out in my yard yet. I'm sure it would have been stolen along with my neighbors signs. We had this problem 4 years ago and also in 2003 when we had anti-war signs up.

I would LOVE to catch these crooks with a camera.. red handed!!

I've decided that I am going to bring my sign in at night and put it back out each morning 'cause I think they are getting stolen after dark. I bought two signs because I assumed at least one of them would be stolen. :P

Anyone else have problems with thieving repukes??

kind of theives stole Kerry Edwards signs. Small fuckers have to sneak in the dead of night.

There are ways to foil them I bet. I don't have signs 'cause I live in an Apt house but it I did I certainly would not let theives rule my day.

18. Lithium grease comes off too easy with solvent use
Edited on Wed Sep-17-08 06:32 PM by Ikonoklast
Now, a graphite based grease, such as a fifth-wheel high pressure, high-tack grease does not come off.

Of anything.

It's black, and ruins any fabric it touches, staining it permanently.

It comes off your skin.

Eventually.

3. Put oil on your signs.
Or lard, just smear it up (clear)and that way the thieves are sure to get junk on their hands. Better yet....super glue!

19. The good thing about the magnetic ones is you can change them out or remove
them if you aren't parked in a "safe zone" where they could get stolen.

14. You should put your sign up near something that you could hide behind…
and if/when someone(s) would try to take it, jump out and say "BOO." Really loud. Just make sure you have someone else with you to take a picture. You'd probably scare the bejeezus out of'em, and get a really good belly laugh out of it.

34. Yea, I was a big city girl back then and hated it there...
but my future to be husband back then, owned a home there. :-) I was in STL/GC for 12 years. I always tell people I "did 12 years" in Missouri, LOL...I recently looked at my old house on MSN Live, and it's a dump now....still a house, but a dump. :-( I put a lot of hard work in it, remodeled it and all, and now it looks like a low rent junkyard. But that was about 20 years ago too that I lived there.

Bummer.

28. I'm waiting for my signs and bumper stickers, too.

When I get my yard sign, I'm going to hang it high up
on the side of the house, facing the street where everyone
can see it, but it will be too difficult to reach.

I live in Repub Central so I'm taking no chances.

30. We just put up the big one....
It is a 3x4 sign from CafePress. Last time we put a sign in the front yard it was about a month before someone decided to vandalize it. I wonder how long this one will take. Maybe we should put the webcam on it....

33. Could be a city code problem ?
My town is ripping them down because the code is specific about 30-days before election for campaign stuff. Especially on public property, which may include the town/city's easement, like between the sidewalk and the street?

In my very "red" neighborhood, probably why I only see McCain-Palin signs up ? The Humanity!

My sign in 2004 was a handmade one I stuck in one of my front yard bushes....

"My bush is for Kerry-Edwards"....it stayed up for two months :silly:

36. I SAW my first Obama sign today.
I also saw my first McCain sign.

The Obama sign was a "yard" sign posted at the edge of a pasture. The McCain "sign" was a hand-drawn page taped on to one of my students' binders. It showed a drawing of Obama with the word "Nobama" next to it. A big "McCain" at the bottom of the page.
