2. Actually, I can understand that.
I have a chronic shoulder problem, and, if I spend too many nights on a mattress I am not accustomed to, I cannot even reach my right arm around my guitar.

18. Count on it.
In the hotels that the McCains stay in, the beds are finer than the average person can imagine.

That's the reason I try to stay at W, Westin, or St Regis. They have WonderBeds and I am perfectly comfortable in those beds.

9. That's rather strange. Maybe he needs a special orthopedic
mattress, although I imagine the campaign could arrange one for him at the hotels. But, bringing your own bed - I've never heard of such a thing.

Yup. That's it. My son is studying Hospitality Management and he was downtown
to protest McSame-Palin in GR. He struck up a conversation with the Valets. They also complained that Palin likes to eat some "weird shit".

17. I would do the same if I could. Sleeping on a bed besides my own can often lead
to a sleepless night or waking up in the morning with moderate discomfort or real pain. I can imagine that sleeping in a different bed every night while campaigning could really mess up someone's sleep and/or comfort, especially for someone of McCain's age.

26. There is no such thing... There is
'my matress' and everyone elses. As someone with back issues who has stayed at some nice hotels with 'top of the line beds', you are rolling the dice. Of course it must be nice to have the money to cart your own bed around...

30. I likewise like to have a bed
available to me whenever I stay in a hotel room. I'm not fond of sleeping on the floor.

Oh, and I have found that the better hotels have better mattresses. I've had a chronic low-back problem for about thirty years ago. It started to clear up back in May when I was on a trip and stayed in some hotels with good mattresses (actually the Hotel Utica in Utica, NY if you really care) and improved more when a few weeks later I stayed with a friend who had a good mattress. I since bought a good mattress and my back problem has totally disappeared. For about ten or more years I'd been waking up in pain every morning and now, not a twinge. It's absolutely remarkable.

34. I have no trouble believing that McCain's physical condition
requires that he have a special bed to get any kind of reasonable sleep. I'm only a step or two away from that myself these days.

OTOH, I also question whether a person in that kind of rough shape is qualified to be president. I suppose we'll be expected to foot the bill for a special bed in Air Force 1, in each of the command bunkers to which he might need to be evacuated, at Camp David and who knows where else?

36. Interesting trivia, but I don't hold it against him. Comfort matters and I'm sure his
shoulders probably do better on a certain type of mattress. This is definitely one thing we should give the guy a break on. Not to mention, he is quite senior. It is not easy growing older and I think that we should respect everyone's physical issues as they age.

He carries numerous good luck charms with him at all times (i.e. a rabbits foot, some personal trinkets.) Also the night of the New Hampshire primary he had to sleep in the same room, of the same hotel in the same bed he did when he won the primary in 2000

with one of his bazillon superstitions and fetishes. I heard from a friend who heard from a friend that ever since he and Scaracudda got in bed together (metaphorically speaking, of course), neither one of them wants to be the first to wake up--might have to chew an arm off!
